Enabling and disabling tracks and trucks

In the strip of tracks and trucks below the file list, each one carries a status:

Right-click one and choose Disable or Enable to toggle it.

This is handy if you want to turn off trucks that are merged with addon tracks you download, or stock trucks you no longer wish to see. Doing so also frees up room for more addons. It is also useful for disabling tracks or trucks that cause errors, while leaving the remaining items in the pod intact.

Warning. Changing the status of a track pod may trigger the Different Version message during multiplayer gameplay. Only edit a track pod if you are prepared to restore the original for online play.

How it works

Disabling a track or truck does not delete it from the pod. C-POD renames the situation or truck file to something the game does not recognise, and the game passes over what it cannot read. Restoring it just renames the file back.

EnabledDisabledWhat it is
.TRK.TRXa truck
.SIT.SIXa track
.SI2.SIY a track hidden from pre-HD engines

That last pair is the newer one. A track built for the modern engine can be hidden from a 1998 install using .SI2, and disabling one of those makes it .SIY. It is the same trick either way: the engine ignores anything it does not recognise, which is the whole mechanism — .SIX was never an official status either.

See Track versions and .SI2 for what .SI2 is for.
