The pod comment

The pod comment is also known as the volume label, and some programs allow you to view and/or edit it while others do not.

A comment might be:

a description of the pod contents
a personal signature
the reason you made it
who it was made for
anything else you think is relevant

Edit it with Edit → Edit Comment. Type the text you want and click OK. Like every other change, it is not written until you save — and if the comment is the only thing you changed, saving writes exactly those 80 bytes and nothing else.

Note. Pod comments are completely optional and are not visible in the game.

Note. The old page said eighty characters. The field is 80 bytes and one of them is the terminator, so C-POD accepts 79 and will not let you type an eightieth — which is better than accepting it and quietly losing the last character on the way to disk.

Only the maker should change a pod's comment. It is the same caution as podzipping: an edited track pod can trigger the Different Version message in multiplayer.
