What errors are being reported? Be specific about what's happening.

Does your pod.ini have a correct listing? Podini2.exe could fix that.

"i don't have the cd i copyed off my friend"

What are you saying? You do not have a legitimate retail copy of the game?

(be careful before you answer)

Well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, how very nice. All right, nobody move. I'm Inspector Davis of Scotland Yard.

This place is surrounded. I'm afraid I must not ask anyone to leave the room. No, I must ask nobody ... no, I must ask everybody to... I must not ask anyone to leave the room. No one must be asked by me to leave the room. No, no one must ask the room to leave. I ... I ... ask the room shall by someone be left. Not. Ask nobody the room somebody leave shall I. Shall I leave the room? Ahh yes, good day.

Didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition -
Then again, NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! You are charged on 2 counts, blasphemy, witchcraft and software piracy..... er I mean 3 counts..
You are charged with blasphemy, witchcraft, software piracy and eating hamburger on Friday... hang on, that's 4.... OK you are charged on 6 counts.....

OK joke over, but Adam - TRI are hunting down and prosecuting people who rip off their games, and the lead programmer of the company is a frequent visitor to this board. Hence the "be careful before you answer" line.

BTW MTM2, Midtown Madness and Motocross Madness are on sale right now as a bargain bundle - all 3 games for just $35.

As head of microsoft I would normally prosecute but SIG's cool so I won't. I told him to censor it.

"The ___ text cannot be used for prosecution in court"

Ya, right.

Why can't he be prosecuted? 'Cause he said so.

>>>are a form of flooding r they not?

A mild form perhaps. Common sense must prevail when one decides to interject during a discourse, some extraneous elocutions are permissable while oft and sundry loquacity can be distracting and vexatious.

Anyhoo....

Insp. Davis was obviously a posing Winterkill trying to intimidate SIG, you can tell by his trademark incoherence.

Cardinal Sin was surely the irrepressible EmceeMart acting silly yet again, I've heard he's up at six o'clock every morning working on special training equipment designed to keep him silly! (bring in the comfy chair!)

Bill Gates was surely played by SIG, doing damage control no doubt. ;-)

Room 12a is anyone's guess, probably the guy with the spike in his head, but he was following the theme to make the point that we're way off forum topic. Image

Andy, the guy with the oddest nickname anyone's ever heard of, made a very funny observation!

Hacman may be the only sane one around h......

Stop it!! It's getting very silly!! The whole premise is silly and it's very badly written. I'm the senior officer here and I haven't had a funny line yet. So I'm stopping it.

(The general public's not going to understand this, are they?)

I understand this completely and am not the least bit amused. Don't bring me into this inane drivel or else I will be forced to launch adam's game.
Over and out,
General Public

Hmmm, well it's confession time. I was Inspector Davis and Lookout of the Yard (and crash test dummy) but nobody else. For those who would not 'get it', no we're not completely insane, we just borrowed some - the obscure references here are from various Monty Python skits, in fact a good part of my text was direct copy and paste work from an online archive. Anyway the end of that last one didn't work quite right, I had read it as "I haven't heard a funny line yet", oops -- didn't mean to insinuate anythin', just going to great lengths to drop references, trying to work in an anti-silly bit, but that direct quote kinda misfired. Image

If some of you hated this, well, try to understand that some of us enjoyed it. I mean come on, a posting with nothing more than 'help me' without giving any details was begging to be chewed up by some bored lunatics (or is that board?). All in fun! and won't be very hard to delete later on. I doubt we'd have done this in the middle of a 'serious and relevant' discussion - THAT would be disruptive and inappropriate.

And General Public, Adam (no not you Andy ;-) would appreciate it!

>>oops --

I'd say leave him out of it too, but it could quite likely be he's behind some of these shannagins too ;-)

>>If some of you hated this, well, try to...

...find a sense of humor.

>>just ... trying to work in an anti-silly bit, but that direct quote kinda misfired.

No it didn't. Those aren't proper left turn signs and his hair's too long for a vicar.

If anything misfired, I mean besided adam's game, it was me coming in right on the heals of general public. I'll let you figure out the details but there's other pythoneque thingies happening here. Once the snake starts unravelling it's coils, it's hard to stop =)

Now, if nobody has any objections, I'm going to go play find the fish.

Yes Cardinal Sin was me Image

"'serious and relevant'" - I think software piracy could be considered as such. In my own silly way I was trying to make a point (and trying to offer a little advice).

As for staying on topic (Adam's problem), I think a conclusion was arrived at i.e. get hold of an original copy of the game.

PS. The edit message below is VERY Pythonesque!

About that yellow text above, immediately after I posted it I could imagine at least three people it could offend, so I had to disclaim. Image

On the topic of board 'flooding' (a loosely used word), earlier I was going to write something to help that ongoing issue but in the spirit of silliness opted for the difficult to understand without a dictionary line. Image I think I made a good point, but, as I see it there are no hard rules, and to keep things fun there really can't be, we must individually excercise good judgement about when or if to branch off-topic in the middle of another one. As for guidelines, I think respect needs to be paid to the originator of a topic, if it's a technical document then springing into chatter about other things or asking completely off-topic questions can be a problem. I can recall chattering with a couple of other fellows in one of Gromit's technical postings and it was later deleted, rightfully so. Anyway, on topic humour is always welcome methinks, as are relevant branches.

Oops, I'm off topic again! (btw, I was hoping the oops would produce something).

Anyway, may the silly people stay silly and the not so silly get sillier!
