I've exhausted all the scrapyard sites I have access to, and I still haven't found what I want. I'm therefore giving you a challenge. I challenge you to make a highly detailed replica of a 2000+ model chevy silverado, completely fiberglass with cut-out windows and no windshield or back glass. I also want a frame to resemble the one used in the new Monster Jam game that will fit the truck body. I would like them to be made with under 10 textures each, the body to be stock without any custom parts or decals except a razor fin behind the cab. The body has to be a regular (single) cab though. Ask me about any other betails or things you don't get. I would do this myself, but I can't figure out the whole vertex thing. Post your creations here with your messages.

you sure you don't want a full 3d engine to go with that? that would only be another couple weeks of work, nothing serious :?

Sorry, I know its a lot to ask and that it may take a while. But need the help. I would gladly accept a tutorial on plotting vertexes so I could do this myself. Either one will do. I,ll settle for just the frame too. I can take stuff off other trucks like the gas tank, engine, and the shocks and use those. And you don't have to make the frame and body, one or the other will do.

this isn't just painting a picture, modeling takes a lot of time, especially with frames and bodies. your best bet is to download a good modeling program and do it yourself.

i personally use milkshape 3d. just export the models as .3ds files and import them into binedit. there are also tutorials in the program.

Thanks for the tutorials, and never mind about the challenge. You know I tried making a truck once. it wasn't pretty. It was supposed to be a humvee.

oh by the way, i made a patrick chassis for inferno you can use. it's not what they run in monster jam shows, but it's a variation of the same frame so to the naked eye it's almost no different. it's close to what bounty hunter runs.

well, what do you need a new patrick chassis for then? mine aside, there are several patrick chassis' out there for use. Also, if you want a chevy silverado, it can be no more complex than just finding textures of a real one and mapping them over another body model.

The only downside with that is binedit doesn't import 3ds texture coords unless you map with milkshape first then swap the 3ds to bin in zmodeler, then open in binedit. I do like milkshape tho, good stuff.

stock ford chevy and dodge complete with razor fins... all you need to do is swap the textures with whatever you like... no re mapping required.

vertices are simply tie down points for faces. open a model with binedit and play around with the functions, get familiar. you'll be a pro in no time at all. it only seems hard and complicated untill you do that for a few hours.

I think the Chevy 1500 by GASMAN on this page would be a good start for you. (left column, 2nd to last)

Those tutorials worked. I didn't find muck on actually placing and arranging vertices though. I did find something that allowed me to make an extended cab version of garret lochard's fiberglass Carolina Crusher body, added a visor and razor fin, and painted it my favorite color, red. I think I will post it later.(Later=1 or 2 hours) If anyone wants to see it, just say so...

Sounded like an over-blown request to me.

If you need something that you cant find, just ask someone. Not a big deal, its not a lack of caring or respect issue, its a time thing with everyone, or whoever you ask's schedule.

I ask for help all the time... well used to, and still would. I eventually get it... when I get it. Don't need to make a mountain out of a mohill here.
