Hi everyone, I'm just getting to this whole mtm2 thing. I'm trying to repaint rep fans 1979 GMC, ( hope he doesn't mind, it won't be released) I got evrything painted and can open it in bin edit and see it, still needs a little tweaking. I used c-pod to extact everything, and to repod it...with no errors. I can't get it to work in the game. I get a black screen where the truck is supposed to be. I think I renamed everything, but it still doesn't work! I've tried about 8 or 9 times deleteing and starting from scratch....WHAT am I doing wrong!? :?

Does cpod say any files are missing?

Make sure you have no spaces in any file names.

Alternately, try podding it using the new beta version of binedit. It might give more information when you try to pod it.

And I hope you do release it, especially if RF stops by to give a nod.

The first several times it did, but I kept adding the files until I didn't get any more errors....renamed. I'm using the newest version of bin edit, trying to learn it anyway...long way to go! it also blacks out the 79 gmc if it is podded to....so neither one will work. I edited both the .lst and the .trk files to match file names that where changed. I compared it to the 79 gmc files and it has more files in it, such as headlite and brake lights that aren't in the 79 file...they were the errors cpod was asking for when trying to pod it. hope this helps....will need alot of work to be released, could send pic of it just so you can get an idea of what it would look like. small problem on the hood...couldn't get all the color on it, kinda looks like a bug sheild...but want to get it working before I finish fixing the paint. thnx for the help

The beta version of binedit has a trk editor (tools > truck editor) that allows you to see what is what. You don't have to know how to edit the model in order to use the trk editor. You can also browse to the files instead of typing in the names.

However, if you want, send what you have and I'll have a look. A picture won't help see what's wrong. And send a link to the original truck so I can compare.

Whatever the problem is, I'm sure it's minor.

I got your email with RF's truck, but a link would have been enough.

http://mtm2.com/~trucks/trucks.cgi?s=19 ... ip&file=on

I haven't gotten anything else. If it's a problem, just upload to the truck page and list it as a "beta" type.

Sorry about that...I sent the other but I don't think it went...will upload it. opened it in the new version of bin edit with no errors, repodded it but it still won't work in the game, will try a few things and let you know if anything changes. I've redone it so many times I'm starting to forget where I put stuff....lol I'm not real good with winzip....never really used it much to zip files up, mostly to unzip.

If you're on win xp, right click the pod file and "send to" compressed folder. Very straight forward and easy.

Here you go.

http://mtm2.com/~trucks/trucks.cgi?s=PantherTdj

The problem was that FRAMEX.RAW was missing. That was the only hold up.

CH, c-pod was giving me errors when I first started, but I added the files it was looking for...no more errors after that.

I'm pretty sure that framex.raw was in there....I might have missed it when remaming it or something. It still will not work in my game...c-pod and bin edit open it just fine, maybe its a problem with my game? no problem showing other trucks, except R F's 79 sierra, which is the one I started with....is there a conflict between the 2 trucks since they are similar? trying to use the same textures?

If a pod contains files with the same name and it's mounted higher in the pod.ini list then yes it can cause problems. However, in this case, the pod I made works fine, as you can see by the picture in the game. So, the first thing I would suggest is

a) remove all non stock pods except your truck

or

b) place the new pod I made at the top of the list in the pod.ini file.

Then try it.

no go....tried what you said, still won't work. funny thing is the one you podded won't open in bin edit....something about file names being too long. it wouldn't load a single file. the pic on the truck page is wrong color....looks gold, supposed to be an orangeish color. are the act files messed up? I don't understand whats wrong :?

Should I remove all extra tracks too?

If somebody could confirm whether or not the truck works, please

http://mtm2.com/~trucks/trucks.cgi?s=PantherTdj

Thanks.

If you put your truck pod at the top of the pod.ini list, it won't matter what else is mounted. If you do not put it at the top, then yes, remove tracks too.

Note. Do not mount the pod I made, and your old problem pod at the same time.

Note. The color is the track palette. If the picture was taken on a different track, then it would probably look more like you intended. There is nothing wrong with the act files.

The truck worked in my game, but I found a flaw that may have been the source of the problem.

I cound not open the model in Binedit either. When I examined the files within the pod, I found one RAW and one ACT texture with a 10 letter name (pntherflms.raw and pntherflms.act). Like the model, the texture names must be 8 letters or less.

I changed the name of that texture to PTHRFLMS and it opens in Binedit now. Hopefully the in-game error will be fixed as well.

Here's a copy of the truck with the fixed texture. PantherTdj, download and try this copy and see if it works for you. Just pod it in a normal manner at the bottom of your pod.ini list this time.

Download PANTHER GMC here

And as Phin mentioned, color changes in the game are common, due to the limited colors available in the game. The truck color is at the mercy of whatever track you run, and will change from it's intended color if that color is not available on the pallette of colors of that particular track.

A conflict will occur if you do not rename the texture and model after making changes to the original. It also may happen if the names are very similar, depending on the name. But this usually results in 2 trucks looking identical in the game, not a game crash.

Phins truck pod worked fine for me in the game and it also opened fine in binedit (2.2).

The game will accept art file names up to ten characters long without crashing, old versions of binedit will not.
