I was browsing around and discovered a couple interesting links, one of which was the ports used by the game.

Some Trucks Crash More Often than Other
(When I first read the title, I thought somebody was spying on my driving).

Finally, the ports.

If somebody has success setting up their firewall with this info, please let us know.

Yeah, that last link I can remember. It gave me the solution to be able to connect to the zone again by opening the right router ports. Very handy links indeed J

Ok, I am gonna ask a lame question cause I'm a dummy when it comes to this stuff. Whats the point of knowing the ports? How does that help me to further enjoy online games?

I may have a lame answer to your lame question (meaning I'm not positive that I'm on the mark...)

I think it has to do with playing behind a firewall or through a network router.....don't bet any money on it...

That's a safe bet. That's exactly what it is. If you have no problem, you can safely ignore this information.

JustMight gave me these links this afternoon. Very succinct and to the point.

I've configured my router for the specific port forwarding (as opposed to dmz host) and would like to test it. If anybody is going to be online and doesn't mind a detour to the zone a bit later this evening, please let me know here or in email. Shouldn't take any longer than five minutes once we hook up. One lap on c98 (or any track) ought to do it. Thanks.

Okay, maybe c98 isn't appealing. Let's make it ten laps on Cumbria Rally instead [(-:]

Just got through with Rustybadmudd and it all looks clear. Soooo...... Here's the help page for using the current zone set up, which includes a section on setting up either DMZ host or Port Forwarding.

http://mtm2.com/~mtmg/zone.shtml

There's a link to it from the front page here too... should anybody need a quick reference in the future.

Thanks Mal... unless you were looking forward to those ten laps, in which case we can get back on and try again ;-)
