Hello (a blash from the past) ... :)

Post by BEEK »

Hello everyone. This is BEEK (Bill). Just wanted to drop in and say hello. Wondered what's up lately with MTM2. It nice to see it still rolling. I may install the game and try out some of the new stuff...

So, what's new?

Hey there BEEK! Wow, that's a old-time handle that brings up some memories 8)

Well, how can I sum up what's new. The editing community has continued on a trajectory that's now produced over 4000 tracks and 5000 trucks, which any way you slice it is a zoggin' lot. The rate of production has slowed down a touch from the heady old days back in '99 but there's still quality stuff rolling out, and we have new and much improved tools (including updated Traxx and BinEdit) for building these days. Last year Microsoft finally closed down MTM2 on the Zone (by closing down the entirety of the Zone) but online gaming continues at a few places of which Renaissance Games Online is currently in vogue...

So yeah, you still got those unreleased trucks to finish up? I remember...

PS. If I don't, Phineus will: http://mtm2.com/~trucks/trucks.cgi?search=beek :D

Hmmm, BEEK, now there's a name that rings a bell. :D You probably have no idea who I am. Nice to see you back anyway, I think D2S pretty much covered everything.

Hey BEEK, good to hear from you. Hope you can come join us at RenGames for racing or rumbling.

Oh, I remember you had an old-style truck (Ford?) you were custom-building in BinEdit, and it was yellow. As I remember you tended to partially obscure it in preview pics you showed because you claimed you were embarrassed by the low poly count on the front. Another one I remember was a Coca-Cola delivery truck, and there was at least a couple others. :)

Probably long gone now, I suppose.

Old trucks...

Post by BEEK »

I do remember the coca-cola truck. Not sure about the yellow one. But guess what? When I killed off my old computer, I put everything on CD's (about 6 CD's of stuff) so I bet I still have all my old stuff. I'd just need to reinstall the software and I might could bring them back...but none of my stuff was really that wonderful...

Oh phooey that. A lot of the stuff I released when I was young was poorly made and somewhat embarrassing to look back at now; my evaluation of those unreleased trucks of yours way back when was better than a lot of mine lol. Point is, at the time, I had fun making them and being creative and thought they were cool, and sometimes other people even thought that too lol. But each little bit contributes to the fabric of what this great game and community have become, and Phineus has forged MTM2.COM as an all-inclusive archive, there's no judgement about how good or bad something is to be included.
[cheers]

But of course it's totally your decision whether to dig them out for us, I only brought them up to make conversation [cool]

Hey Beek! Great to see you around, hope everything's well. I don't know if you remember helping me out with one of my first "involved" replicas several years ago, you re-painted some TRI wheels for me for my Camel Taurus rep back in the day, lol - I think it's still floating around here and there. Stay in touch, take care.
