On windows xp with a geforce3 I can't get an image in trackview. Has anybody used this program lately? What kind of results are you getting?

TrackView

Thanks.

I'm not familar with trackview, but could it be similar to Tracked2's problem with XP? (set to software renderer in mtm2 to use tracked2)

There's certainly something unusual with the way XP deals with video drivers.......with the microsoft 3dfx drivers installed on my pent3, I have no 3DFX mode in mtm2...,

... but after I installed 3rd party VOODOO drivers to make mtm2 work, the WinXP fishtank screensaver now has no textures! (solid white 3D fish swimming about solid white coral and such). heh heh....

TrackView is a program that takes overview shots of mtm1 tracks, with options to display checkpoint markers and numbers as well as the grid outline on the terrain.

tv_ac.jpg
tv_bb.jpg
tv_sc.jpg

It will work on mtm2 tracks but not nearly as effectively.

tv_axc.jpg

I had thought I might do a few screen shots of the mtm1 tracks like this if they came out well enough. Now I find I'd have to do them on the old win98 pc. I wonder if the pics would come out clearer with a better graphics card.

Did you save the install file? I still have my voodoo 5500 and will probably want to use it one day. I have the one with the twin chip.

ulps! I looked in my archive, and found 5 different voodoo5 drivers...I CAN'T REMEMBER WHICH ONE WORKED on my system! I experimented with several last year, and forgot to delete the extras!

I tried zipping all 5 together, but 74 megs is a little too large to upload at 56k.....heh heh...

Only one solution..I'll try re-installing each until I find the "good" one, and dispose of or store the rest elsewhere.

LMAO! Lucky first guess......yep, there's the 3DFX option in MTM2, annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd...... there's the albino fishtank screensaver ;-) I believe this is the puppy (or fishy) you want.

Here you go: http://mtm2.com/~bigdogge/download/Voodoo5_drivers_for_WinXP.zip (7 megs)

Since you have a voodoo card, you should find the site where I snagged these drivers very useful...

If this driver doesn't work on your system, there's plenty more to try there...plus many more 3DFX programs and tools
http://www.voodoofiles.com

I have yet to find voodoo5 drivers that work with both XP screensaver and MTM2.

By the way, I have many 3dfx screensavers that don't work with MS's XP-voodoo5 drivers either, but do work with the 3rd party drivers (got 'em at voodoofiles too)...

...I wonder if MS made it incompatible intentionally, as they did when they modified JAVA to work with their OS best (which defeats SUN's intention for JAVA to work best on all platforms).

P.S....for some reason, Hypersnap doesn't seem to like XP/3DFX. The snapshots in 3DFX mode in MTM2 come out scrambled, so I shoot my truckshots in Direct3D mode.

- http://mtm2.com/~bigdogge/download/Voodoo5 drivers for WinXP.zip

Great. Got it, thanks.

I'll give it a looksee ;-)

Ah, that's good to know. 3DFX and screenies have always been an issue, but this will save me time experimenting. Good stuff all around. Thanks again.

We're straying from the track view topic, but I've been browsing voodoofiles.com. I found a recent driver download (less than two weeks old) and wondered if you'd tried it yet.

Getting back on topic. mtm1 has enlarged track pics in the driver checkin area, so I took a couple of those pics for a few tracks. Have a look at them.
<font face="courier new" size="+1"><pre>
2nd Chance Street Grinder
Abe's Creek Zipperhead
Alpine's Crazy Alpine
Altitude Monsta Driva
Blues Crossing Dav_DemBlues
HC Team in Wonderland Frenchie
</pre></font>
The one for Altitude was more what I had in mind for using track view. What do you think? Is this a lot of fuss and bother for nothing?

drop the light level down around 50-60, that seems to bring up the colors... this program only seems to be able to display about 16 because most tracks look pretty bad and pixelated, SI was the best i've seen so far

here's the setting i used

here's a shot of siberia creek using the same sets as i did with SI.

>>> Geben Sie bitte
>>How'd you get it,
trying to exceed the 255 maximum parameter for the area

>>did you solve it ?
yep, 256 is too high :o)

Is it safe to assume you were using win98?

>>> Geben Sie bitte

added to the error page.

oops, I think there might be something wrong with my voodooo card. I put it in briefly before the other motherboard burned out. I tried switching to it now but did not have happy results. Now I've returned to the geforce but my browser windows are screwy. Might be time for a format and reinstall =(
