Post subject: new pod utility needed
PostPosted: Tue Nov 26, 2002 9:26 pm
Ok, you know how when you add new pods to your list and when you try to start the game nothing happens. So then everybody tells you to go through your pod list and sort out the bad pods by trial and error.
So what i'm getting at is could someone make a pod utility that can look through all you pods and tell you which ones wouldn't work?

Podit will fix a broken pod.ini file.

C-pod and c-podini will check an amazing number of things.

All are on the mtmg utility page.

I don't think C-pod and c-podini will work with a corrupt file, so yea I guess they will let you know if there's a problem.

What does 'corrupted' mean exactly? WHat kind of pod does make the game not start up?
Since i do not know how mtm2 handles pods exactly i can not tell what part of a pod would cause this prob.

I dont rember ever releasing c-pod.ini.

tell me what u want me to make the prog check for and i could probably add it in.

Oh, okay. I understood it to be beta, but had no idea the extent of the release... as you might guess from my post on the main mtm bbs I was trying to catch up on the state of your programs in general.

I'm guessing. Does it have a trk or sit file? Beyond that, you'd have to do a file search and I can see no reason to do that at all.

fixall/more.pod doesnt have a trk or sit but it works.
SO there has got to be some other reason.
What do you mean a file search

And the sound file doesn't have them, neither does the ui.pod etc. I was just trying to think of the common reasons why the average pod might have problems. I mean, the only other things would be to determine weather the crc was valid or if the offsets measured out correctly. But the game will tell those things soon enough.

By file search, I meant read a bin file, check to see if the textures are present and whether or not they're the correct size. You could also check track and truck files to see if the components were there. But it seems a lot of work when the game already does that. To be honest, I think you're time could be better spent.
