oops, I just put my glasses on and double checked some specs... my card is a nvidia GF4 Ti 4600, the mfg is PNY Technologies (sorry about that misinformation)

my high end frame rates have just about tripled from the old GF card I had and this one, I went from 60 max before to as high as 170 now.... but I still can get studder in certain areas heavy in polys...

But hey!, I'm happy!... at least I can kick back and take screen shots in tracked2 all day... nothing else really matters (lol)... seriously tho, I did no special tweaking, I wouldn't even know how and am too chicken to try in fear of screwing something up bad.... I just made sure all remnants of the old cards drivers and files were gone before instaling the new one.

Okay, here's the update: tracked2 stopped working again on the geforce3. No clue why. Too bad too cuz I was looking forward to running it in hardware mode (pics or no pics). But now: nada... in any mode.

The big test came when I reinstalled win98 on my old 233MMX. I took out the riva tnt pci and put in the ati 3d rage 2+

>>then when I tried to run the game it threw that same "Unable to switch to full screen mode" error and reverted back to running in a window. It did this no matter what graphics options I set (or didn't set) - the only way the game would run was under software rendering.

Tech notes (from the readme.txt):

3. Video Adapter Notes and Troubleshooting
=========================================
3.1. List of video adapters with known issues.

--ATI Rage One video adapter with 2 MBs of VRAM.
--ATI 3D Rage video adapter.
--ATI Rage 2 video adapter.
--Diamond Stealth 2000 (s3 virge chipset) video adapter.
--Diamond Stealth 3D 3000 (virge/VX chipset) video adapter.

Workaround: do not select Direct3D in the Graphics Renderer list.

3.4. Problems entering full-screen mode with ATI Rage and other video adapters.

If you are using an ATI Rage or other video adapter, and you are unable to switch to full screen with your hardware option selected in the Graphics Renderer list (Graphics command on Options menu), you must close and restart Monster Truck Madness 2 in order to switch to full screen mode with Software Only selected in the Graphics Renderer list.

Unlike d2s, I did try taking screenshots in Tracked2 ... more to follow

Yes, but it's anybody's guess. But it makes me think: if all those people can make cracks and warez trainers and other various shell type programs, then why doesn't somebody make something useful that would allow pics in hardware mode, on any graphics card, or better yet, increase our screen resolution in game. Then again, maybe the word 'hacker' has a more profound meaning than we normally attribute to it.

Oh, sure, rub it in ;-)

Hmm, I wonder how my intel 810/815 on-board chipset would work. But that's the server comp so I won't be finding out any time soon. But good to know another display works. There's hope of finding the common denominator yet.
