I traded my 1966 Buick Skylark, without it's current engine, I kept that and put the original engine back in it. Plus my 1970 GSX clone drag car, without the engine, wheels and tires. So I kept both my good race engines from both cars, and I got $12,0000 for the pair.

They were asking $12,500 for this. It's a freshly restored 1967 Buick Skylark GS. Man, what a beauty. Black with an Ivory interior. It's been rebuilt to factory specs. I have the engine from my 66, that is gonna go in it. Plus I'll still have a spare race engine, which is way too radical for a car like this. It would tear this poor thing apart, lol. So I'll just sit on it, and find a home for it someday.

The previous owner sent me the picture above, so I'll use it for now, till I can take some better one's. I'm going to have so much fun with this car, when the weather gets better. I can't wait!

Looks like a good find, RF! I dig the era styling cues (how long did they want that rear overhang, lol).

I think back then, they used that extra trunk space for sneaking their buddies into the Drive-In.

I use it to my full advantage though, I relocate the battery into the trunk anyway. Use the factory spare tire all as weight ballast for the drag strip. With the engine that's gonna end up in it, it's gonna need all the weight transfer it can handle.

I just love the older body style of these Buicks. They were in my opinion, the finest looking cars made back then. Aside from the Chevelles, GTO's, and the Cutlass's. ALL the GM's were so sexy back then.

Fine looking ride. And yes, car design had more character back then, I think.

yes, sadly, all vehicles are geting boxy and ugly(Honda Eliment!?) and some of the upcoming cars bigdogge posted at vales.

anywho, sweet ride rf:) i allways liked the older cars myself, and this one happens to be one of my favorits. couple others i liked were the '67 mustang(wich i was lucky enough to get one from bigdogge and make for mtm2), and i think it was a '76 chevy sting-ray(not so sure on the date, i'll have to get back to u on that) but if it helps, it was in gran turismo 1,2, and mabye 3

quote: all vehicles are geting boxy

Hmmm...I thought they were all getting identically "egg-shaped"......the older square-shaped cars are what I would call BOXY (think early-mid 70's boats)....

????

IF they are "upcoming", then how could I have posted (past tense) them already? ;-)

The 67 looks great bro....good deal......my mother had a '66 impala with a similar "monster" trunk...I was able to put 2 full-size 10-speed bikes in there with just the front wheels detached...and close the trunk-lid!

That looks pretty cool. But man... you gotta lose those mirrors. The wheels too! lol

I can get you all the pics you nee to make that car look really great, and make it just like a 67.

I could even make you a set of really cool wheels for it.

I put my new car in the shop, it's sitting in there on jack stands right now. The engine is out of it, and so is the tranny. The rear end is staying, cuz it's got a 3:73 posi in it already. It just needs a new heart. I'll have that fixed tomorrow. The original engine is nice, and new. But it just doesn't have the Giddyup I like. Tmorrow, I'll take it out and terrorize my town.

Torque is cool! lol

Yep....install proper mirrors, and snag those RF wheels, and I'll put it on the ST page (I just added your 'Stang and RF's GSX today).

The wheelwells look like they need to be enlarged slightly....send it to me when you are finished, and I'll open them up a bit.

Shoot for 3.500 for tire diameter, for best fit on the ST tracks.

Now if I could think of a way to get more track-makers interested in the ST format....bribery? (lol)

One question...

Are those headlights, painted like that on purpose? Are thay black? or are they cut out? If they are painted black, no prob. But if they are cut out... this car would make a kick butt Grand Prix version of this Vette. I can get you pics of that too. It was blue with white number plates, and white sidepipes, and white painted mag wheels.

If that's the case, I can make that version. If not, no biggie, I can make some cool billet wheels or something for it.

very sweet car Kevin, looks like you really scored even at 12.5... just be sure to hang onto those stock parts or else it'll devalue big time... and don't scratch it! lol

I hear ya, black is the last color I would normally buy. But I've had my eye on this car for over 2 years, I just could never convince the previous owner that he needed to sell it to me.

I loaded him up with a few beers a couple weeks ago, and he finally agreed. He wanted to keep it, but he had too many toys as it was, and his wife really wanted him to part with a couple of them.

I just got very lucky. Normally, I wouldn't even consider paying that much for ANY car. But I was getting tired of the GSX. I'd had my fun with it. It was a huge Bondo Bucket anyway, it just looked real good in pictures. In reality, it wasn't that pretty. It wasn't a real GSX anyway, but man... it could haul the mail, and then some.

Convincing myself to sell my 66 was the hard part, cuz it was a very nice car. But it wasn't a GS or anything special. It too could haul the groceries, but I got to keep the reason for that. I just got the new engine in it today. I drove it around a little too. Saturday will be an all day tuning session, to really get it to Gel. Racing season starts soon, so I wanted to get it done for opening day.

When it's done, I'm thinking high 12 sec quarters will be possible. My 66 would bearly dip into that range, but this car has better gears, so I don't think it's impossible. It's got the guts for it now, so it'll be fun to see what it'll do. I'm not going to campaign it like my GSX, I'm gonna slow down in that feild for awhile, cuz the cost is just unbearable to do full time anymore. I'm getting older now, so it's time to have a toy, and enjoy myself.

So now that I have the shop space, I can keep my truck inside now. Like it needs to be inside. It's primered, lol. BUt the truck is my baby, and it's what really keeps me loving this game. Without it, I wouldn't love racing so much. I have my own real life MTM2 sitting in the garage. The old Chevy hates me for it sometimes, for the things I've done to it. But that's why I built it. It's no monster, but like I said, it's all about having fun these days.

Here ya go bud, this should give you all the up close reference pics you'll need. There are some great shots here of a few 67's. I gotta find some pics of that Grand Prix Vette, I know I have a link saved for some cool pics of it someplace...

I bet those black covers were semi-transparent in the other game.....some drivers used clear plastic covers for a little less aerodynamic drag, but still be able to race at night. (or have functional headlights if the class required them).

By any chance did you means GRAND SPORT version...those were the Cobra-killers of the 60's.....They only made a few....I love 'em!
