If you're installing MTM2 on a Windows 11 PC, you might run into an issue where if you right click on the "SETUP" exe to run on compatibility mode, the "Compatibility" tab is missing, so you will have to go to the search bar on the Win11 taskbar, and search "Run programs made for previous versions of Windows". From there you should simply browse the "SETUP" exe file, and the program should be able to run it for you.

Of course, there is a statement saying that "Troubleshooters have moved and this tool will be retired" when you open it for the first time, so I don't really know if this tool will last any longer, but just so that people know, this is essentially how I managed to install MTM2 on my brand new Windows 11 gaming PC, cause the "SETUP" exe file is missing the "Compatibility" tab in the Properties menu, which is highly frustrating.

Oh interesting. I use Start11 to give Windows 11 a very old Win7 feel including taskbar and menus so I wasn't aware compatibility tab doesn't show up.

I do seriously wonder if the source code comes with how the "SETUP" exe works on different versions of Windows, no?

And dare I need to mention the fact on how the "SETUP" exe tends to be very freeze/crash happy during the installation process, meaning it's all a game of luck if you can get pass the "Do you want to setup a desktop icon for MTM2?" screen after 100% installation which tends to freeze up afterwards.

I think everything was defined in a configuration file. Or was it just MTM1 with its classical windows 95 installer?
Still, we have pretty much everything figured out by now. you can even just copy-paste everything from the CD, rename the monster.exe executable, then run cowpod and register MTM2 (then the patch, fixmore, HD patch etc). you can even make some small path modifications in monster.ini/extras.ini to make SMK videos work without the CD.

I also got the old Windows help (monster help) working on Windows 7 with this patch https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... 4ce50cac7c. sadly it doesnt work with Win 10/11.
My memory is terrible but I think you can also decompile the HLP file with external tools.
