Hey guys..thanks gain for putting up with all my questions..

i have been trying to create a nice sand texture for days. Once I get the depth, and the illusion of little "waves" in the texture I want, it never seems to convert over to mtm2's pallets right..I get too much yellow, or too much fade out.

when creating, or chopping up pictures for the sand, I'm not finding what I need either.

I am wondering if this has been done before, and I can replicate it, or if there's any out there I can use.. I'm good with textures this just seems to be a tricky one to get right.

What I am looking for is an area about 5 x5 textures with a beige sand. I am wanting the little "waves" in it with a slightly darkened valley...
I am looking to texture a few patches and valleys with it down low in the terrain. Like I said everything I have attempted so far is coming out way too large of a wave, or the color is way off...

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good sand texture..or maybe a source image I can cut and source from..Shoot if I can find the process I'll do them from scratch too...just kinda grasping here..My attempts at rocks turned out great, but the sand...well not so great..

thanks for your time

I tried gr sites, but couldn't find one with a small enough "grain" or frequency in the waves. Thanks for the link to reptile, going to check it out now ;)

Well i found some sweet textures, unfortunately reptile won't let me export or do anything with the textures until it's purchased. it might be worth it, but I would like to see at least a couple of textures out of it before I spring for it.

I am really bummed I didn't back up any of my psp plugins. Back then you could buy them singly and they were pretty inexpensive a couple at a time. That's all I ever used to make textures. In my lack of foresight I didn't think i would ever need them again, probably 50 or so psp plugins gone phhht..
If I had the tool kit I had back then it would be a ton easier...

Then again bin edit, and traxx sure have come a long way.. so it really make sup for it ;)

Thanks , thanks and triple thanks to the guys who took the time to update those two. I definitely owe you one, heck the whole mtm community should by them a round or two.

I don't think reptile is made or even supported anymore. However, the "key" link above has what you need to unlock it. I got it legitimately back in '98 or '99. Either enter the numbers or just copy and paste the whole thing in the first box - should be fine.

As for plugins, I don't recall which of these is the most up to date.

http://mtm2.com/~mtmg/downloads/misc/paint/plugins0.zip

A few of those expire but the vast majority don't.

I've been playing with the plugins lately thanks for those phin. I've got back all my old plug ins, plus a couple more really nice ones.

I ended up with some really nice textures using these plugins ;)

actually sky depending on what program your using for textures you might want to try...

http://www.deviantart.com/
http://free-brushes.com/

and you can also get some EXCELLENT tutorials that can be adapted to work with any major paint program on the link below.

I hope this helps sky... I know it did and STILL does for me 8)

By the way, Phin made a complete set of sand textures including roads and turns, I made a track with em but I never released it. Or maybe I did and I can't remember. So I you're still lookin for sand textures just ask.-
