I know you guys are most likely getting tired of all my problems( )
But now I'm at it again. This time, the in-race sound effects(engine, call-outs, ect.) have quit working. All I can hear is the music. Any thoughts?

Is the "effects" bar on the sound options panel turned up?

Yep, sounds like an adjustment problem in sound options. Probably an unexpected change somewhere along the line. Just put game sounds back

Menu > Sound > Volume

Put 'music' toward the left and 'effects' toward the right

That "should" help.

You can play around with it until you get the balance you prefer.

I tried your advice Phin, Iit didn't help. It's not that the volume is off (it's all the way up), the sounds just won't play, period. I can hear sounds like crowds cherring when I get close to an object that makes those sounds, but its very silent...

Maybe it's your sound card then.

If you can hear them, even faintly, and the levels are up, then it's probably not a game problem. Check Windows control panel > Sounds and audio properties > Volume tab > click the advanced button then slide the wave slider all the way to the top.

(If the speaker icon is in the system tray, just double click that to bring up the volume control.)

If that doesn't help, then see if there is a different sound device in the drop down. I've never seen anybody need anything besides the default windows device but you never know.

If that doesn't help, turn your speakers up, lol. j/k.

I had this happen to me once back on windows 95, solution was to restart computer (As always )

can always switch back and fourth between sound sources and see if it does anything.... reset it and set it back...
