I recieved an e-mail from the monster jam online site aying that Monster Jam Urban Assault is due out soon.

http://www.monsterjamonline.com/news/ar ... 3215462943 :x Seems like they are going back to a Maximum destruction type game. It makes me hate the monster jam series more and more.

I thought the last Monster Jam game was ok with the arena racing, but now their just taking one step backwards. They say the stadium racing is going to be improved, so I hope that is true. The whole game itself reminds me of Twisted Metal.

Yeah... I got that email too.

I swear, when I'm a driver I will go to whoever holds the Monster Jam license, stop this nonsense, and make them do it properly. [;)]

I have Monster Jam: Maximum Destruction. I loved that game at first, but now I realize just how silly it really is. The stadium freestyle is the only realistic part. The arena stuff is just silly.
Plus there is a model of 1983 Grave Digger which can be unlocked, it is just the normal fiberglass Grave Digger repainted to the old scheme, so it's like that Grave Digger retro someone made.

I agree it's about time someone made a proper realistic race/freestyle only monster jam game.

The Urban Assault Article Sounds Like The 1st Game, Only Better Physics And Stupid Minigames With Stadium Racing/Freestyle. Tisk Tisk.

SANTA MONICA, CA – JUNE 10, 2008 – Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) announced today the upcoming release of Monster Jam: Urban Assault. The genre-defining monster truck action in the original hit Monster Jam® has destroyed the stadium barriers and players will now be able to wreak havoc on city streets around the world. The game will be available on the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, Wii™ and Nintendo DS™ in fall 2008.

Selling a record of over 4 million tickets at over 325 performances in 2007 at the premier stadiums and arenas in the world, Monster Jam is one of the best known touring entertainment brands in both North America and Europe, in addition to its recent international expansion into Central America. The 2008 Monster Jam tour kicked off this year with further record breaking attendances and is on pace to be the greatest year to date in terms of live event attendance, television coverage on network and cable, worldwide licensed merchandise, international event growth and online presence.

“Last year's launch of the Activision produced Monster Jam, which was the first Monster Jam branded video game at retail in over five years, exceeded our expectations in terms of both gameplay and positive fan response,” Charlie Mancuso, President of Live Nation Motor Sports, Inc. “But Monster Jam fans and gamers are not easily satisfied. For the sequel, we agreed with Activision that we had only one choice: throw the rules out the window and go for total destruction outside the normal Monster Jam environments!”

Taking Monster Jam monster trucks onto the streets and other urban settings and being rewarded for the scale of the damage and destruction is one of the new key features of Monster Jam: Urban Assault. Feel the crunch of twisting metal underneath as you drive legendary and world famous monster truck favorites like Grave Digger®, Maximum Destruction®, Monster Mutt®, El Toro Loco®, Captain’s Curse®, and Blue Thunder®, or select from newer stars on the Monster Jam tour like Stone Crusher™, Backwards Bob™ and Spitfire Monster Truck™. Your goal is to demolish every vehicle you see.

“What would Monster Jam fans do if they could unleash the raw power of the world’s biggest and baddest monster trucks in an urban setting, however they liked? Monster Jam: Urban Assault is our attempt to answer this question,” said Dave Oxford, Activision Publishing. “We are confident Monster Jam fans and all gamers will enjoy doing things like crushing a NYC cab or smashing through one of London’s famous double-decker buses.”

From MonsterJamOnline.

For purists, Monster Jam: Urban Assault will still offer stadium racing and stadium freestyle competitions with gameplay much improved over the original game. Mini games have also been added, including ones brand new to the franchise like Monster Jump, Truck Trickster, Skee Ball and Air Strike.

the article also says that a monster jam game hadn't been put out in over five years, I think they forgot about the late 2003 release of Monster 4x4 masters of metal

That game wasn't too bad, but I wish it had more realistic arena racing roughly like the last one had.

that wasn't a monster jam branded game though. the last game was in 02 for the ps2 or something like that. it actually looked really good, but was just a god awful game.

on my copy of monster 4x4 masters of metal it says Monster Jam presents Monster 4x4 Masters of Metal. That and they had ads up for it when it came out at the monster jam events. I'd say it was a monster jam branded game. they had ads up for the game for over like 2 years.

Yeah... they say stadium racing/freestyle will be improved... but, fact is, there's little chance we'll see a true simulation Monster Jam game, because everything in the monster truck industry is aimed at kids, and to hell with everyone else.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very very impressed with how the trucks looked in the last game. PEI chassis, suspension straps, sway bars, but that doesn't mean squat when there are no realistic physics.

Listen, Activision, we're sick of seeing rubbish over the top stadium courses and outdoor racing.

We want to see speed, power, noise, driveshaft connections dumping sparks under braking, broken parts, engine blowouts, and above all else realistic physics!

God, the kiddie fans have so many games to choose from now... why not give us a chance?

yeah i wanna see the truck slam apart after hitting a 40 foot jump and landing hard...i want it to break apart when she rolls and i mean realistically...not the way the fender goes or that i wanna see it actually shear apart when i frontflip...CMON!!!!

trucks can go way beyond 40 feet with out breaking, it's more a matter of how they land and how long they run.

i personally think they would profit more off of a true simulation game. with how massive the gaming industry has become, a high quality simulation game would sell very well especially considering this has never been done well.
