I've been re-acquainting myself with truck painting and have a problem. (actually I have a few problems but I won't go into that)<font size=+2 face=Wingdings>J</font>
I repainted the stock Boogey van and kept getting an invalid texture size message when trying to run the new truck in the game - I managed to work out that when saving as a bitmap from PSP (before using FlyRawGui to convert to Raw) I didn't have the Save As/Options/RGB checkbox checked so I was ending up with a weird sized Raw. Now that that problem is fixed I am getting this message:
<IMG SRC="http://home.attbi.com/~emceemart/MTM2/errormc1.gif" border=0>
The new van doesn't show up in the garage but everything seems to be loading OK until the load screen states "loading additional graphics" ...then the above message appears. I've remade the Pod (several times) and remounted it above (and below) the Truck2.pod. The only differences between the original Boogey.trk file and my truck.trk file are the textures and models names. Any ideas?

I can't tell from here, but if you want to send me a zipped copy of the truck POD, I could look into it. I'm usually successful at debugging trucks.

Curious. What did you use to replace the texture. You're absolutely right this looks like a texture error, but the bad type message hints at something more. What happens if you call the bin into binedit and reset all the face types?

<small>thanks for the graphic (now I just have to update the page)</small>

Well I thought I could get away with opening the Bin in Editpad and rename the texture in that but obviously not so. After using MDMRE's texture replacer I assume the texture name occurs more than once in each Bin. I also got myself confused by using all 3 Bins where I should probably only bother with the high detail one at this early re-learning stage. Apart from that I realise now that I made a fundemental mistake - I completely forgot to allow for the wheel wells...Image! So I'm starting from scratch (don't bother to spend any time on it BigDOGGE).

I got an "unsupported face type" error message and my computer crashed! The curious thing is when I loaded a simple Bin (a cube) and mapped all 6 faces to my texture there was no error. I am making some progress however. Hopefully I'll have something to show for it by the time the weekend is over.

edit. Has anyone had any success exporting an SMF from Zmodeler as a Bin? Whenever I've tried it in the past I get the "unsupported face type" error when attempting to open the Bin in BinEdit.

It would seem that the BIN was 'damaged" in some way,as I also get an unsupported face-type mesage when I try to view the model in Binedit.

I can tell you that your textures are fine I was able to succesfully aply them to a fresh copy of the Boogeyvan BIN. I'll be sending it to you shortly.

Somewhere along the way, the face type was changed. I can't say where...

P.S.....nice paint!

Success!

The paint still needs a little work but at least it works. Still can't figure out what went wrong first time around though. I'll be intersted to see what you did with the Boogey Van BigD - thanks.

Thanks for the compliment Mal, I've never been accused of being a truck maker/painter, I only ever released one repaint for MTM2 back in the day. Though since then I have done a few repaints for Leo's MTM Pro trucks for Evo2 which turned out pretty well. I think Leo used BigDOGGe's original models. Compared to the stuff you guys are coming out with these days my repaint looks pretty amatuerish IMO! I'm hoping I can develop the Goldmember theme for the Expo - maybe include a truck or 2 with the track. As far as the movie, I haven't seen it yet, just the trailers. I've seen the first 2 and I like Mike Myers' sense of humor - very Pythonesque and as you mention Brookish Image
On the theme angle, I reckon the track will have all kinds of references to "Sponsored by the British Dental Association" heehee.

Edit. Got your zip thnx BigDOGGE - love the wavs! Shagadelic! Image

I should think <a href=http://rhinoseros.com/~malibu350/scraps/Buildings.htm>Mal has</a>...

> Success!

...and you. Groovy paintjob, hehe. On a whim I went through the sound pod looking for Army saying something like "yeah, baby", but no luck. ;-)

> MDMRE's texture replacer

There is an alternative, which I'll never fail to mention: <a href=http://rhinoseros.com/~forum/pages/Forum16/HTML/000046.html>hehe</a>

...and most of the bodys at my scrapyard are evo SMF-->BIN conversions.

Make sure the texture loads into Zmodeler with the SMF model. If you try and export the bare model with no textures, BINedit won't accept it.

Haggy used to send me models with that error as well. I never found what cause his "different face type" errors.

-----------------------------------

I still may be able to get you the GOLDMEMBER wav. No promises. I found an e-card flash with Myers as doctor evil saying "goldmember". it would be perfect for your truck.

If I hook my 2 comps together with an audio patchcord, I can record the audio from a flash(SWF) file. I'll have to go buy the cord though (1/8" 3-conductor male to 1/8" 3-conductor male).

Anyone know an easier way to remove the audio from a flash? All I have is SWISH, not the original FLASH proggy.

If anyone wants to give it a try, here's the flash (120k)

Yup.

http://mtm2.com/~d2s/temp/goldmember2.wav

My Creative Sound Blaster Audigy card came with a suite of nifty programs. I can record sound on-the-fly from any source on my PC (even another program playing sound), and then edit it as I please.

Sorry, the file's a bit big (~800KB for just a few seconds of audio) but I didn't want to crop out too much or reduce the quality on you. If you need anything else, let me know Image

so do i. Image

gold1.wav

i just use a patch cord from line out to line in and can record anything <font size=+2 face=Wingdings>J</font>
and then use the windows recorder to edit it.

That's not an easier way, Legwon.....that's similar to what I suggested....

Quote:

The difference is that you are doing it on one comp, while I use 2 PC's nearly sitting next to each other, which is just as easy. The output of the one playing the audio goes to the input on the other. I didn't go output to input on one computer because it's easy to get a feedback loop, but I guess your system was not vunerable to this problem.

But I do appreciate you doing so anyway....I never made it to the store today to buy a patchcord myself....now I can save $3.99 (here I come McDonalds!) lmao! I'll need to get one eventually, unless I can find a program like D2S mentioned.

Thanks Legwon and D2S!

OK, EmceeMart. Here's the Goldmember WAV, all processed, edited, and ready for MTM2 trucks. I've no way to remove the background music from the voice, but I don't think anyone will care.

I recommend you place it in your MTM2/SOUND folder , and replace one of the listed WAVs in the TRK file with it, leaving the other 2 ("oh behave" & "yea baby"). That will make a cool combination.
