What is the best RGB value for chrome?

And while I'm here, can anyone think of a reason why a face won't behave as shiny type (in game)? I added a couple faces but they appear dull compared to the rest of the truck.

Yeah i also want to know the answer to his 2nd question.

The humans think it is a poison of the blood that makes us what we are.
Fools, the blood only feeds the bodies we live in. To create a vampire,
one must steal a soul from the abyss to reanimate the corpse.

ok i know this is an old subject ...but

the answer is that the normals for the verts are out a bit im guessing that setting the face type in binedit is like settings the normals in Zmod. but thats what ive found

Leg, it's tedius work, but your best bet is to take the model and delete all inside faces from it.

I've had some models do this before, like bodies. The whole body is shiny except one or 2 faces. The deal is that I merged faces, and there were a couple left inside, and the whole body looked good except that one spot.

Once I went over it with a fine tooth comb, I found the faces that caused the problem, deleted em, and everything was ok. Maybe that is your case too.

when you added faces, did you add them to both sides of the polygon, using the same 4 vertices?

If so, then the polygon will only display dull, non-shiny faces as you described. Polygons with a face on one side only (transparent on the other side) will display the shiny effect.

For this reason, the inside and outside faces of fiberglass bodies are keep as 2 separate BIN models. During final assembly, you combine the inside and outside using INSERT, but from then on you never MERGE the vertices.....the faces cannot share the same vertices without losing their shinyness.

One more item..newly added faces default as normal faces...you have to select and change their face type to MTM2 SHINY after creating them.

I should note this is a very old thread (Wed Aug 07, 2002 --> Fri Aug 08, 2003). Also, I think, I'm not sure but I think, the new binedit fixes the dull appearance, and I know for sure it allows you to pre-set the default face type. After the expo, I'll be giving binedit more attention agin.

Don't answer it, it's a trick question!

Just kidding, but for the record, chrome effects require RGB values ranging from white to dark gray, in the right array.
