MTM2.com

I have a Saitek R100 steering wheel/accelerator brake peddle. But even though it works flawlessly with Grand Prix 4 and all my other racing games, I can't get it to register in the calibration setup of MTM2.
I select Joystick/Steering Wheel as the controller, but it doesn't work?
Is there something I am missing? Or is there a patch to get it to work?
The Keyboard option is OK, but a Wheel would be preferred.

Hmm. Don't know what the problem would be (VERY sorry if you read this expecting me to have a solution). That's the same kind of wheel I have (but rarely use) and mine works okay. Did you check the regular Windows joystick calibration thing? (Just check Control Panel and look for a picture of a joystick)

Yes! The wheel is calibrated in Windows and works with all my other racing games!
Finally got it to work, but the brake isn't working for some reason?

Can you select in windows to for the acceleration/brake pedal to use the Y axis?


I remember having this problem at one point (with another wheel) and i had to tick a box somewhere to force the software to use the acceleration/brake on the same axis.

That solves the problem, but the wheel is not very responsive, the keyboard is much better. Thanks anyway for all your help!

Each to his own. I cannot go back to using KB now after using the wheel.


And yes the level of response is pathetic in MTM2 compared to other racing games

Still it's better than keyboard imo.

there's a place in control options in the game to increase or decrease your steering responce.

If the wheel was under $40, it was a crappy flea market deal.

When I bought it, the wheel was £60 about $115, so it is definitely not a crappy wheel!

Glad you got your wheel working, Disposable. Personally, I don't think it matters what you paid for it. The only thing that's important is that "you" like it.

Years ago there was a guy (I think it was DavDemBlues) who let me "ride with" him on Moparz's Trailer Town and Guitar Bill's Valley of Kings when I was still learning the ropes. This guy was ultra smooth, extremely fast, took every corner and turn to perfection . . . and he used a joystick that looked like it was pulled out of a sewer lol. He said he paid $10 bucks for 'em, and he had a box full of the things. It was the only model he liked; hated the high profile/expensive sticks.

Anyway my point is twofold: (1) it's hard to become very proficient at this game if you frequently play other race games in my opinion, and (2) don't worry about defending your racing equipment to others; it's all about whether you like it - period.

10 bucks for something pulled out of a sewer is dern expensive.

Yep, this place has been here since . . . well, before I started playing, which was in Nov of '99. You ever play online? Ren Games is where we all hang out now. Course, this may be old news to you, but if you're looking for live competition/fun, that's where it's at.

Never tried it! (Bandwidth problems), but I am going back to BT (British Telecom) soon, and there are no bandwidth restrictions on the package I am having. So I will try online racing then!
