DiggerDude uploaded a truck entitled "Avenger Realism" which is essentially my Avenger replica with a changed base color on the body, a different set of axles and wheels, and edited .trk file. The rest of my truck is my work, and there is no readme file or credit in the .zip file. I'd like the truck removed or the proper credit given ASAP, thanks.

actually sounds like a lot changed to me, but wanting credit seems fair i think. But, i think you should be happy that someone liked your truck so much that they used it for their own creation, dont you?

Not exactly, considering that truck took me quite a lot of time and effort to build and paint.

To simply change the tires and axles (which I believe were Cale's, at least the tires) along with editing a couple lines in a .trk file HARDLY validates someone calling a truck their own work.

Like I said, I wouldn't care if proper credit was given to all the authors' parts on the truck, but it's essentially stealing.

Unlike a lot of the new truck makers who upload a lot of work here, I built 75% of that truck from scratch, and didn't slap a bunch of parts from other authors together in a matter of minutes. I feel my request is far beyond reasonable.

Gotta agree with Kiel on this one. I used to use a lot of parts from other editors so I see where the rookies are coming from, but the RTS trucks that were posted are all literally other people's work which just had TRK files messed with - the original makers of the trucks deserve most of the credit in that case, not the person who converted them to RTS. I also know of a couple of builders who don't want any of their stuff converted, as RTS really screws with the way the trucks look. None of their stuff is in that pile of uploads, but if any was they have a right to demand it be taken down.

I'd be OK myself if someone took my replica trucks (Monster Mutt, T-Maxx, etc.) and converted them as long as I got credit for the original truck. For any other replicas based off of those trucks, I do demand credit for my paintwork as that is what I consider my specialty (I know someone on the Draggers board is taking T-Maxx and updating it...keeping my paint. I want credit for the paint if it stays.). My customs, on the other hand, are not to be screwed with for RTS or "updates" unless I choose to do it. Taking an engine out or using the shocks or the frame, I love that, makes me proud. Make a new Driven to Destruction using the same paintwork and I'll raise a ruckus about it.

My beef is they move the suspension but don't move the lights, so they float four feet too high.

Anyway, until I get a proper readme this has been disabled from the page.

I've never been a big fan of RTS trucks anyways. Not only do they not look the part but they handle absolutley NOTHING like a real truck would. I'm surprised DiggerDude hasn't included any credit he's been around long enough now to know the do's and do not's.

Cale I'll talk to Buddy Ro let him know that if he releases it to credit ya.

Realism... Pfft.

Bad handling, ill tempered, and out of control... RTS is a joke, always has been, always will be. RTS should stand for Retarded Truck Steering.

Someone back in the day, whoever came up with this idea, converted a few of my trucks to this, and I drove one... lol

I flipped out, and its a stupid idea. Just leave people's stuff alone, and dont mess with it, its MTM2, its not a Monster Jam game, its old, and doing that to any truck, isnt realism, I dont ever wanna drive a real truck that drives like that.

Actually the more I think about it there's one or two trucks out there that handle realistically. Brood's Blacksmith, and the USA-1 that's in Slick's Monsters of TNT pack.

I wouldn't mind trucks like that, because they are still within game limits, yet realistically feeling to a certain extent.

There's a thing called "public-domain" I THINK (remeber that, I THINK) that is kinda "illegal" ask for remove the truck ""Avenger Realism" from the web, cuz YOUR truck was not copyrighted. Yeah, DiggerDude's truck may be a totally replica, but It's stupid, but it's true. (But MTM2.com is owned by Phineus, he can remove that truck (if he considers) cuz is HIS webpage)

I remeber when i forgot to make a readme file for my power wheels truck, and also gave credit to replica fan for the paintjob, and he didn't say "Remove Kmaster's truck cuz he didn't gave me any credit!"

He nicely ask : "why there's no credit", I said "sorry, I totally forgot"

LOL sorry about that repfan!

By no means is it "illegal" for Kiel to ask for removal of the truck. That's about as absurd as saying schools have no right to expel a student for copying Johnny's paper in blue ink and handing it in as his own. The is a thing called natural copyright which does protect Kiel's work. With that said, he has every right to request the removal of something which is obviously his.

ok it took me a while to reaspond to this but heres what i finally have to say.

Kiel im sorry i didnt out a readme, as i didnt in many (the reason being is i figured most people would know who made it and such... i was wrong, my bad)

But in all honesty why does it really matter?, its a game, you put it out there for people to do what they please. If i made a truck from scratch and someone repainted it and said it was theres, well i wouldnt care i would be flattered that someone liked my truck enough to make there own version of it...

Why does it matter? It's easy for someone to ask this when they never have made something from scratch. Until you realize how much time and effort goes into building a truck from scratch, and perfecting every little detail on a replica, you will never respect the work that's gone into that truck. I've fought this point for the past 7 years, and it just never seems to sink in for you kids. We did not release these trucks with the intention of having them be ripped apart, slapped back together and be released two days later with someone else's name on it and no readme. And here blurs the line of reality. "Author" B edits the truck of Author A, "Author" C edits the release of "Author" B, so on and so forth, and in the end, no one really knows who made what to begin with. I did not put hundreds of hours into my trucks only to have credit stolen from me. I am not flattered by the persons who edit in this manner. I am appalled at them for not even having the common sense to exercise a little courtesy. The ones that do flatter me are the ones who do things properly. The ones who give proper credit where it's due, and turn your work into a creation of their own that's actually worth downloading. It's really a shame to see kids these days have no sense of right and wrong.

Yes, Diggerdude, it may only be a computer game but creating trucks is a lot of work. It took me seven days straight to make Four X Force, and that wasn't even the redone one! How would you feel if someone made a Krypt Keeper truck identical to your one, and passed it off as his own? I'm glad I'm having the real-world Four X Force name officially copyrighted with the USHRA so people don't just come along and enter Monster Jam with my name.

you make good stuff [:-)] in fact i used a engine model from you and race runner shocks, awesome stuff and i cant wait to learn how to make my own stuff. I am actually surprised David didnt include a read me. And honestly RTS does suck but for straight line drags, they are very realistic looking and if you only raise the truck by a little bit you can keep some of the handling traits and the "pitch" motion of the truck. I even plan on running a PENDA/RTS league very soon
