Hi levi,

WinZip is a utility program for working with *.zip files - it lets you compress files into a zip archive and also extract them again. However, if you are working under Windows XP, you shouldn't need it as XP has it's own zip file utility built-in. I have seen you talking with Phineus about compressing and extracting zip files here so you probably already have a handle on this, and can ignore any references to WinZip. However if you do find you want it (you can do a lot more with WinZip than you can with Windows' basic zip handling) you can get it from http://www.winzip.com.

Notepad is a program for reading and writing text (*.txt) files that comes with Windows. Start menu -> Programs -> Accessories -> Notepad. The *.trk files for MTM trucks are simply basic text files, which means they're human readable and editable.

I hope that answers anything, I wasn't sure what you're asking when you say "that c pod talks about".

I started over to see if i missed something, now when i go to rename the file. It says start notepad and open Dirt.trk. when i try this, this is what pops up C:\my truck\truck\dirt.trk this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. create an association in the folder options control panel.

Levi's having a rough time of things.

My notepad is located on the Start menu > programs > accessories > notepad. If you open it, you can just go from the menu and browse to the trk file.

If you have windows XP ( I forget which windows you have ) you can choose "open with" and just select notepad.

Either should work.

That's just a matter of learning to paint. However, if you need a shortcut, you can always try the textures in this pack.

You can work in any paint program. The tutorial uses Paint Shop Pro because it's freely available, but you can certainly use Photoshop if you already have it.
