GOLD MODE
When in a race/track, type the letters "GOLD" and you enter gold mode. When you press the zero key (at the top of keyboard), or the 4 key in slew mode, screenshots are saved to disk (<strike>PCX in software mode and</strike> RAW in hardware mode). It's easy and very convenient, and it allows you to take as many shots as you want without exiting to paste in a paint program. Opening them, however, has always been a chore. So, I set out to make a program that would preview them easily. The result of that effort is called Gold View.

Gold View is an mtm2 RAW trackshot viewer, but it will do a few things more. For example, if you accidentally double click an act file, it will harmlessly display the color palette (instead of opening some undesired program). It will also convert between act and pal files. And it will open evo trackshots and opa files. And it will open terrain files right-side-up. And etc.
Gold View is not intended as a replacement for TXRaw. TXRaw will preserve color depth whereas Gold View will increase the image color to match your screen settings. That is not really a problem since you'll likely increase the color depth in a paint program anyway but in those instances you want to preserve the original texture then it will be good to have TXRaw on hand. I recommend downloading the goldview.exe program and saving it to the same location as TXRaw so they may work side by side on your computer. If you'd prefer to keep TXRaw as your main raw file viewer, then you can right click a trackshot, choose the "open with" option and browse to the goldview.exe program. Next time you right click a trackshot, then Gold View should already be present as an option. You really can have the best of both worlds if you want it.
How it works
Double click Gold View, and you will be given file association options. You may choose to associate some or all of the file types with Gold View. If you decide later you don't want Gold View to handle either of the types, just click the program and uncheck them again. It's that easy.
Open a raw/act/pal file with Gold View. (double click if associations are set, right click if not - you can also highlight a file and press enter).
Click the image (or press enter) and it will be copied to the windows clipboard where you can paste it into any paint program.
If you are viewing an act/pal file, press the 4 key or zero key (at the top of the keyboard) or CTRL+S ... and Gold View will convert and save it to its opposite. That is, act files will be saved as pal, and pal files will be saved as act.
All images are displayed at their actual size.
