Hey, where does everyone play mtm2 these days?

It rely sux that we dont have many playing online anymore, especially racing. WGC seems to be the only place where people are! I play on wgc myself, but usually playing the same people all the time. Everytime i have had a peek in Battle HQ there has been no one, or rarely 1 or 2 people. Gamespy never any LOL. So im guessing not many play online anymore?? That rely sux... unless im wrong.... Even though the game is 10 years old, its still great 2 play! I hope 2 find out where everyone else is playing these days! hehe

You can download the full version of mtm2 off my website http://crawfy.sytes.net/page.php?7 (only 48 megs). How is it such a small size you may ask? Removed Cart trial, removed the start and end race videos, and compressed in a self extract archive & zipped up. Really handy size for sharing!

If you do not already know, ppl left of the game (although less than half the room actually play now LOL) r at www.wgcenter.com . Register, download the software, click the Racing link on main page, then the Monster Truckin Room. Although most of you probably already know this lol.

Hope to see some more players online somewhere, although its probably not gonna happen lol. In my opinion MTM2 is still a great game, and i see no reason why there cant be many playing it online anymore!

Hey Crawfy,

We still do the MTM2 tournament on Saturday @ BattleHQ. You can find details at http://www.shadowprincess.com. As far as just picking up games like we used to, that's pretty much disappeared unfortunately along with MSN Gaming Zone. WGC was sort of ok, but it still has problems. High resource useage being one of them.

We still play MTM2, but it's nothing like it was before we lost the Zone.

It'll be up to the administrator to decide, but I think MS demonstrated clearly how much they cared when they shut down the zone (if not before). Yes it's piracy, but being a 9-year-old out-of-production unsupported game, isn't going to hurt or even register with them...

My oppinion is that a game that is older than 5-6 years for which the developers have absolutely no more interest in should be given for free.

Especially since such games you can only get them on ebay because not all games are being resold to "old game distribuitors" like Sold-Out Software.

I totally agree with fila. Also You don't know how DIFFICULT is buy a original microsoft game here. They really don't care too much about us.

MTM2 is 10 years old, who cares! And who wud want better than a 48meg zip? I know its copyright and that, and I prolly shudn't be doing that... but think about it - microsoft stopped support years ago. And after the zone went they basically completely stopped support. I wouldn't worry about it.

Scatter you are dead right about wgc, I agree myself! It's definitely not as bad as when the room first came out, though. The room isn't really terrible, just not as good as zone or anything. Its still a place to play and chat though, and it works, which is all we can ask for really. Slidegamers is supposed to be merging at some stage and taking over the cd-rom section on wgc. They know what they are doing lol, wgc doesn't. At the moment they have a midtown madness 2 lobby on their own site, it looks like zone and runs absolutely fine and stable. I hope when they merge, the mtm2 room will be under their software. Anyway time will tell.

I would love to be at the tourneys every week, but unfortunately because of the time its not convenient for me. If it was my time you guys have it over there (Sat afternoon), it would be fine! hehe

I too doubt microsoft really cares, its an old game that we still love to play. I think they stopped caring long ago. However, I dont have a download to the game on my site for copyright reasons but when people ask i make sure they are able to get it.

As Scatter says picking up games like we used to seem hard to find but the tournaments are regular and are held each Saturday EST at BattleHQ for now. While they continue, it helps keeps the game alive in the minds of people. And www.powerlobbies.com is still the best and quickest download for BattleHQ and their email help to people with problems is a great help.

I am still working on getting the game to RenGames, the people there were heavily into the zone too and want their chat and gaming as close as possible while holding their own unique place. If anything major comes of it you will all know.

I am hoping that by us all keeping the game we love alive, we can all ride this slump through, if the future brings us a stable home the game may just have a revival! Stranger things have happened.

Stupid of me not to think of it before but don't forget the MTM2 Demo has (can be given) the capability to run addons just as the full game does.

The Demo is always free to download and all you do is apply the patch to it (also free to download) to have the same functionality as the patched retail software. You do give up most of the game content in the demo (sounds a fair tradeoff to me) but can run all the (yep, freely downloadable) user-made addons you want.

Might be an acceptable middle-ground for those who want to propagate the game to new audiences without resorting to outright piracy :)

Of course back in the day when mtm2 was still beta it went around on ICQ and Geocities in the form of something like sixty-eight one-point-four meg rar files.
