I know this is not the right forum/site to post this question into, but I really couldn't find any other good sites for 4x4 Evolution 1.

I have downloaded some tracks made by Malibu350 from this page:
http://mtm2.com/~malibu350/tracks/main.htm

Some of the tracks are compatible with Monster Truck Madness 2 as well as 4X4 Evolution 1.

But unlike in MTM2, where, when you add an addon track and then race on it you can see other opponent vehicles too.....

However, in 4x4 Evolution 1, you cannot see opponent vehicles and on the race setup menu there isn't even an option to set the no. of opponents for that addon track. I'm talking about Quick Race.

This happens only with the addon tracks. Opponents are present with the default stock tracks.

Are the addon tracks only for multi-player then?

Most evo addons don't have computer trucks.

You mean addon tracks? right? ... Are they then only multiplayer? ... Are there any single player tracks for 4x4 Evolution with bot racers?

You mean all those maps for 4x4 evo1 are only multiplayer maps?

Yes.

No. It's just that most don't have computer trucks.

Yes.

They can be played off line but only a few have computer trucks. Sorry, I don't have a list of tracks that do have computer racers.

Thanks.

So if they don't have computer players, that means they are only for:
exploration
quick race
ghost race
to beat your own best score

They aren't available in the career mode....

Am I right?

Yes.

However. And I'm somewhat reluctant to say this, but it's possible to create bot racers for a track. In order to do that you'd have to learn how to use the editor.

I'm afraid not. It's been a very long time since I looked at anything with evo but if I remember correctly the truck.pod was a replacement for the game's truck pod and it used only the minimum number of stock trucks so you could add more customs into the game. It does not add computer racers to tracks that don't already have them.

As I mentioned above, yes it 'can' be done but it's a very complicated process and involves you learning how to use the editor. That's why most addon tracks do not have computer racers. It's a lot of work and takes enormous amounts of time. And if you do make new computer trucks you'd have to contact the maker of the track to have them included in the original track download - it would be very wrong to try to add or upload anything without the knowledge of the original maker first.

If you've been to vales/evo then search for a track called lowrider central. I believe it was one of the very first evo addon tracks and was the first track to have computer racers.

Thanks for that comprehensive reply, I just thought that if all the MTM2 addon tracks had the bot racers why couldn't the 4x4 evo1's have......its not fun to race alone
obviously it must be more complicated a task...

In MTM you stretch out some lines in the editor that define the course and the on-screen map, the trucks then try to follow this line as best they can, which is often very poorly. 4x4e requires considerably more work.

One other thing, in Evo it is impossible to add bot racers to longish tracks. To add bot racers you actually have to drive the track in the editor and it stores where your truck is in a series of waypoints. Unfortunately there is a limit to the number of waypoints the editor will record, if you go over the bot truck will either not move or it will start driving in circles at the point you ran out of waypoints.

Also no matter how "good" you make the bot racers they are never a match for someone with even moderate skill. To get really good competition you need to try multiplayer (if you can find someone that will run the same addon tracks that you have)
