MTM2.com

I just got an email informing me that mtm2.com was used to spam a large number of email addresses (not true), and that it was probably due to a virus on my computer (also not true). So, the nice person who sent me this information provided me with a program (mtm2.com) that will supposedly fix the problem. I am a little suspicious, however, because the person who sent it has the reply address "postmaster at mtm2.com" but there is no such a thing.

A friendly neighborhood reminder to never trust attachments, and that I never send them anyway, so please keep your computer free from problems and delete any mail you might get like this.

Those that know you, wouldn't be fooled by something like that I would hope.

Even if I did get an email from you Phin, I'd still post in here or pm you to ask if it was legit. But good advice for anyone about attachments, if in doubt delete it.

I got an email from someone or something with my earthlink email address. The only difference was the name that shows in the FROM field. It had my initials instead of my first, last name. Kind of weird.

These spammers are getting really clever about what they do. Still lamers, though.

I hear you. But it was weird, the senders email address was the same as mine. The only difference was the username. Like I said, I use my first/last name as the username. This person or machine used the initials of the first/middle name and the full last name. For example...jrsmith.
