This'll sound very strange, I'm sure. There are lots of great pod makers out there, from C-POD to the one in BinEdit.

But they all podzip what they make, which I don't want - I'm trying to overwrite stock mtm2 stuff here.

Does anyone know of a good pod program that doesn't podzip?

c-pod will make anything you want if you make a LST file.

Of course, there's tracked2 too.

Just drag all the files into C-POD. It only podzips if you build off a trk file:

Also you could build as a unique truck and then just rename the .trk file to barefoot.trk or whatever.

The only known utilities that can create MTM compatible PODs from scratch:

- WinPOD (vbrun300.dll required) - one of the original killer apps for mtm that is still very much in use.

- PodTool - an excellent standalone POD creator, it has no bells and whistles but it may be the easiest and most foolproof one to use, particularly for large pods such as tracks or track packs. Created for the 4x4evo community years ago as a replacement for the aging and more difficult to use WinPOD.

- C-POD - you know C-POD, right? Click the link if you don't!

- BinEdit 2.2.8 - the do it all (almost) utility. Clearly the best truck pod maker in existence, coupled with a complete truck editor.

- TrackEd and TrackEd2 - the original track editors and truck tweakers from TRI, which have a simple pod creation function that I wouldn't recommended for anything. Other similar editors for early TRI games would probably do the same tricks.

I believe that's it.

edit: I forgot...

- CPR Toolbox (a CART utility from 1998, I have a copy if anyone wants it), it will extract, create and merge pods too, but it doesn't compare favorably with the other available tools.
