im just getting into track making, i had to use someone elses textures which i really did like doing but had to. i really want to make my own textures but dont know what to use, like what program. so i want to know whats the best texture making program to use?

What you want is the same thing but instead of roads you'd make your drag textures - j-style etc.

You can start with this program.

In a way, drag tracks can be easier to make than road textures because you don't need to worry about them lining up six miles from where you begin. So, browse this site to find textures you like.

Then make a graphic the size of your arena, then draw your chalk lines on it. Save and slice, and you should be good to go.

Reading Winterkill's tutorial will help you understand what the 2 pixel overlap is about and how it works. You won't lose by learning that. The rest is just up to your imagination.

wow, i really dont understand some of that stuff, like step 2, how did he get the checker board?


nvm about the textures....its really hard, i dont understand the link u gave me, its just making me mad. i cant understand that kind of stuff really well. sorry for the post, i guess ill see if there is something else i could use that is less confusing to me...

You have to copy the checkerboard into psp, and then use the flood fill option set to pattern with that image and then click inside your 960x960 square. You aren't going to get everything the first time. Stick with it, usually error is the greatest teacher.
