I know it's freeware but still, isn't it something new? So why not making something new for it instead of using reps just use customs. Why make it an issus to go back and take them out and then make customs for it if we just make customs for it and then go back and make replicas? I think that'd be a hell of a lot easier do to but then again, that just me. If we add real trucks to it, it's basicly MTM3, and that isn't what we want. This is new and different, so why not just set it apart from MTM2 and other games?

My 2 cents:

I think that the game should be released with one or two reps and a few customs. If we wait till the whole list of trucks is finished we probably will never get to see this game come to life.

After the game is released then everyone can start moding it as they wish.

Just lets all focus on helping mat with the other stuff like making a few tracks here and their and what not. I know i want to try my hand on making a few:). That is of course as soon as mat gets the track editor finished.

Mike, it's a pretty good idea, but what you're suggesting is basically that we start all over again with trucks and tracks. Like, if we don't put the reps that are already made in the game, they're going to have to be made again. What I'm saying is, if a new monster truck game comes out, probably most mtmers will switch over to it, that's putting all the hard work it took to make the mtm2 trucks to waste. That's why I wanted to incorporate some already-made trucks. But, is that really what you guys would want, just a few customs?

I never said that we couldn't include replica trucks. I just said that why make it an issue when we can just release it with custom trucks and then have the replica trucks as add-ons? I'm basicly saying that we should just release it with customs for now. But then again, i can be wrong, i have been in the past. I'd still like to beta test it but don't count me on helping anymore though, i'm kinda busy with other stuff. Thanks though.

here is my understanding on the matter.

i would realease it with customs only. but then i think that people should be able to pod trucks that were made for mtm2 if they choose to. so then we get all customs and mtm2 work does not go to waste.

thats what i think you should do.

What constitutes violating a trademark?

Any unauthorized use of, or any likeness to the registered property. This includes profitable and non-profitable, as in the instance of this game, cases. To clarify that, if the truck you want to use is trademarked and you don't recieve permission, in writing, to use it, you are legally responsable for any fines that may be placed against you.

Therefore, only these trucks could be legally distributed:

Iron Outlaw
An Escalade
Line-X Obsession
Rap Attack
Vette King
Towasaurus Wrex
Nitemare
Pastrana 199
Dragon Slayer
Mr. Destruction

As for the TNT trucks:

AM/PM Boss
AM/PM Rocket
Altitude Plus
Awesome Kong
Crimson Giant
Ecology Eliminator
Goliath
Jersey Outlaw
Master of Disaster
Nitemare
Liquidator
Price Crusher
Copenhagen Crusher
Star Monster
Texas Toy
Walkin' Tall

I did not do an extensive search for these names listen, so even thay may have a trademark protecting them.

Jon has a point; I remember when somebody created a Grave Digger for the game 1nsane, and Team GraveDigger actually contacted him and told him to remove the vehicle, resulting in a bunch of custom paints.

This is getting stupid. Make the truck with like 5 customs in it. Let people make their own reps, don't take on all that work that will delay this game from being ready. People will make their own trucks anyway, so why put in the effort for trucks nobody will use? If somebody wants a Max D, let them make one, the same way theres all the mtm2 reps. You can't please everybody, and having this list of demanded trucks is asking alot from a guy thats willing to make a free game.

I'm with Alex.

If people want rep trucks, let them make them themselves. We have enough VERY talented makers in the game to work some nice vehicles out :).

Remember, quality over quantity Mat. Just make like, 5-6 custom trucks at first, 5-6 tracks...and when the track maker is done, and people can edit vehicles, everything will come together more significantly.

jbrossack - vette king, escalade, pastrana 199 and mr destruction are owned by cce. they'd jump on you before anyone else. i don't know if they're registered trademarks, but cce would find some way to get you arrested if you even say their name in public. [(-:]

First off, the sole owner of the name "Escalade" is General Motors, not CCE. Any attempt CCE would make at obtaining ownership rights to the name would be denied before an application was submitted.

Secondly, no trademark, no recognized ownership. Therefore, no, CCE does not own the names of "Vette King," "Pastrana 199," and "Mr. Destruction."

This exact situation arose a couple years ago after David Rife had been running the Black Widow name for many years. Steven Baron, seeing that it was not trademarked, submitted an application for the name, and was given sole ownership for the right to use Black Widow.

And last, a trademarking violation isn't an arrestable offense. It's a misdemeanor crime that weighs heavy in fines.

Well, this is what I put in just recently:

-Tires properly sit on specific vertices of axles
-Tires will steer based on a steering value/rear steer/axle rotation
-Tires will wobble based on a wobble value.

A screenie in not too long, never fear.
