another part to the question:
if enabling it in a higher resolution is possible, can it be run in 1280 X 1024?

MTM2 is an old game. 640x480 was the standard at the time it was made, and it's what we're limited to today. Sorry.

Here's a couple tracks that look pretty good despite the resolution.

There are more, but it shows what can be done when you want to.

A good tip to improve the look of the game is to enable antialiasing (AA) and anisotropic filtering (AF) before running the game. These can usually be accessed either through Windows' display settings, or a utility provided by your graphics driver software.

The good thing about MTM2 being a little older is that current graphics hardware can handle it with aplomb, so you can crank those suckers up full blast and not see much of a performance hit in-game at all. They do wonders to improve the look of the graphics, just remember if you play any other (newer) games you'll probably want to turn those settings back off again when you're not playing MTM2.
