I am sorry for any urgency or annoyance in my voice, but I need an antivirus/antispyware program RIGHT NOW. I can't find Norton anywhere and I don't want to access the Internet on the infected computer (it's a Trojan horse), so I'm counting on you guys to send me the link to some decent program that does it. Thank you.

search up AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy. Both will help a lot. Also, TrendMicro Housecall is a great antivirus program.

Thanks for the links, guys, but I'm afraid we're too late. Fortunately, all I lost in the total reformat was a little bit of [testing] game development stuff. I didn't lose anything for mtm2.

Actually, as I realize, I didn't get a virus. I got spyware. The good thing is that I don't give personal information over the internet and have none of it on my computer. Therefore, if information was submitted to the creator of this type of spyware, that person will let out an annoyed howl when they find out that instead of getting personally identifiable information as well as a credit card number, they actually ended up getting summaries and short Harry Potter stories. The bad news (which no longer exists) is that the spyware thing created some (about 30 lol) shortcuts on my desktop, the names of which are inappropriate for a public board.

But thanks again for the links, they'll be very useful in cooling me off if this happens again.

I strongly recommend you install all those anti-spyware and anti-virus programs on the MTM2.COM page onto your machine and keep them up to date. The time to use those tools is BEFORE you get infected, not afterwards.

Note that one of the things some viruses collect is passwords, so if you think your system may have been compromised, then you might want to change them.
