The Monster.INI file contains all the setting for MTM2.Heaps of these can be done in the game but there are a couple of secrets in it

1.Torture Pit Secret Track

a)Open up your MTM2 directory and inside it is a directory called 'system' open up that directory and you will find a file called monster.ini

b)Scroll down to the line that says showhiddentrack=0
change that to :
showhiddentrack=666

c)you will now have a secret track called the torture pit.

2.Bigfoot Power Wheels Secret Truck

a)There is a line near the showhiddentrack line that says showhiddentruck=0

b)Does anyone know what number is to be put here.

c)the truck is called Bigfoot Power Wheels i think because when i was looking in the EXE file i found a couple of areas which mentioned bigfoot power wheels and files like BPW.RAW and stuff like that

1. The hidden track is not hidden any more and can be downloaded here . Yes, I understand that you don't have to download anything, and that you can actually turn on the hidden track by driving Sidewinder Canyon. However, once you download the new and improved fixed version, you'll never bother with the old one again. btw, Podium will turn it on or off automatically for you too.

2. There is no hidden truck. There was plans to build a Patriot truck, but it never got done.

3. funky horn sounds will change the general lee tune to a few others, including an aooga.

4. Oh, there is another option in the monster.ini file that can be changed. If I remember correctly it's this. At the bottom of the monster.ini file is a line like this.

gLocalizationFile=UI\MTM2.loc

You should be able to change it to either of these to change the on screen messages in the game.

gLocalizationFile=UI\MTM2-fun.loc

gLocalizationFile=UI\MTM2-pig.loc

The first is some silliness, the second is pig latin.

(I'll have to try this one some day).

There's this one...useMMXFlag=0...when I set it to 1 it changes my sound to the lowest quality for some reason. When I saw it I thought it would enable MMX if you have it and I do but the sound just got crappy.

And what the heck is this I wonder:
DSoundCheese=NOPE
I guess set it to yep and see

Nope, no idea on the cheese, lol.

Meanwhile, there's the font topic

http://forum.mtm2.com/viewtopic.php?t=1624

If I recall, there is the one to change the latency display in the multiplayer screen. Tho, I don't know if this is it, or what you'd change it to.

latencyDisplay=2

Change the latency display from 2 to 1 to get a numerical latency reading. ;)

I'm not sure what the MMX flag is for, far as I know, you rprocessor will use MMX anyways. It could just be a reference for the game to use and may be checked every time the game starts and used in the game as a faster way to find out if you have MMX without having to recheck. Or it could be something that just isn't used anymore, if you look inside monster.exe there is a lot of stuff from another game, actually almost 80% of it looks like its from some spaceish game and MS just re-used the exe for mtm2, so maybe that monster.ini entry is for that previous game.

Hey! Happy holidays from southamerica

Monster.exe is just a re-used file, for all the games of tri like mtm1 hellbender fury terminal velocity.... you know. That's why the exe file got all that weird stuff like "Register your copy of Terminal Velocity Today! Call 1-800-APOGEE" Believe me, i'm the master of monster.exe. That "HiddenTruck" doesn't exists it's The Patriot mtm1 truck. MMX ???? i got mmx in my dirty pc, but when i set 1 to that flag, nothing really changes so... whatever.

Yeah i've got a P2 200 MHz with MMX, the MMX i think is just something that works in the backgroudn whether you want it to or not, that flag may just be for compatability reasons.
