True. I used an older version so I can catch items like this, since the game doesn't like longer names (except for PODs). What crashed B.E>v0.9 may also give the game fits.

I'm still acustom to the older Binedit (especially where rotation of the model viewing angle using the arrow keys is concerned), so I use it for modeling and the newer version 2.x for texture work (nothing beats 2.0 or 2.2 when it comes to mapping).

I mounted the truck at the bottom of the pod.ini list, and at the top. Worked both times. This really has me stumped.

unable to get inth is a track error.

http://cownap.com/~mtmg/errors.cgi?e=57

Follow the directions there that refer to unchecking "hide file extensions for known file types." Any track you have been working on will have to have the models removed and put back in.

There is a high degree of probability you have not been telling us all there is to tell. There is a list of stock tracks and pods here.

http://cownap.com/~mtmg/traxx/stock.html

Move all pods except the stockers out of your mtm2 folder. Also, delete any art, models, sound and truck folders you have in the mtm2 folder (leave the Saved Games, Saved Replays, and system folders there). If you are getting these kinds of problems, then make a folder directly in the C:\ root. For example: C:\MYTRUCKS. Then set your binedit and traxx preferences to point to C:\MYTRUCKS\ART and C:\MYTRUCKS\MODELS and C:\MYTRUCKS\TRUCK. Make your tracks and trucks there. Do not work in the mtm2 folder until you have a clear grasp of what's what. Even then, it's probably wise to work away from your main game folder.

No short cuts allowed. Do it exactly like I've described and the problems will go away.

Phineus, that was going to be my next question, about having to much stuff in the mtm2 folder. the only thing I've been working on is the truck, it's my first project. I have'nt even thought about doing any tracks. most of what I save is in the microsoft games folder, not in the mtm2 folder, but I'll remove all that too. I'm pretty sure now that the problem is on my end....since the truck will run on other people's games.

You guy's are great...really appreciate all the help, thanks

Going to dive in and do some cleaning! Guess I have ALOT to learn, Let experience be the teacher....School is in session.

Okay, fair enough. But that doesn't change the fact that "unable to get lnth" has, to date, always been created by the file extension problem as created through traxx. Which means either you have stumbled across a way to accomplish the same thing in a truck, which has never been done yet, or you have found a track causing the problem that you got from some place. So, amidst these other problems, let's consider this only medium priority. If you can pin point the track, let us know and we'll see about fixing it. If it's still a truck, we'll have to find out more before we can decipher what happened. However, I think at this stage it would be simplest for you, to solve this so you can move ahead regardles, it's probably still best to move all non essential stuff clear away from the mtm2 installation. If you don't have too much to lose, maybe you might even consider uninstalling, deleting the folder, and reinstalling, just so you know you've wiped the slate clean. Only takes a few minutes to do that anyway. Then, for future reference, it's a good idea to never work in the mtm folder. Myself, I have several working locations on the hard drives. I know BigDogge has two or three (one for testing, one for building, and a regular game install). Working like this is the surest way to avoid file name problems and conflicts.

In any event, let us know how it turns out.

Did the trick...the truck will run now.

I moved all of the folders and pods out of the mtm2 folder, uninstalled mtm2, reinstalled mtm2, repatched, downloaded new podini file, I think I had an older version, placed 2.1 fixall at top of pod, started game and went to driver check-in, it was there, some reason there are two listed....only one podded?! both work though

Placed c-pod and bin edit in there own folder....just curious, when I started out d/l these programs the read me always said to put them in the mtm2 folder, I had tracked2 and tiki's truck program in the folder too. now that I think of it....tracked2 gave me that same error a couple of times when I tried to load it, would crash back to dos box.

would that have anything to do with it?

would you want a list of the tracks that I had in the folder....I'll load them one at a time and see if I have any problems
thanks again to everybody that posted.....keep on truckin!

You have two there some place. Either you have two mounted, or you merged one with another pod. But either way, you have two there.

> the read me always said to put them in the mtm2 folder

I just downloaded cpod to check, and it doesn't say anything about using the mtm folder. I know that binedit and traxx don't either.

tracked2, on the other hand, requires the game folder. However, you can also set it up as stand alone so you don't need to have it in your game folder. However again, if you are just starting out, you don't even need tracked2 either. Cpod and binedit will do the job more than adequately. Having it there in the game folder won't hurt anything, but you don't need to use it. It's not the most stable program in the world, and should be reserved for very specific uses only.

>> would you want a list of the tracks that I had in the folder....I'll load them one at a time and see if I have any problems

That couldn't hurt, if you don't mind checking them out. Thanks.

I also suggest that you re-upload a fixed version of the truck Panther, this time give credit for what you used.

I don't care that you used anything of mine, just say so.

Make a text file and zip it up with the pod and list who's parts are who's. This is how problems start, and it offends the orig author, and I've met him, he can be un-pleasant at times. [(-:]

It looks pretty good to me, but then again... I'm kinda biast.

Rep, I made that zip. I expect that he'll finish it and we'll eventually turn this one off.

PantherTdj: "Hi everyone, I'm just getting to this whole mtm2 thing. I'm trying to repaint rep fans 1979 GMC, ( hope he doesn't mind, it won't be released)"

*problems occur*

Phineus: "if you want, send what you have and I'll have a look."

PantherTdj: "on its way"

Phineus: "I haven't gotten (it).... If it's a problem, just upload to the truck page and list it as a "beta" type."

PantherTdj: "Sorry about that...I sent the other but I don't think it went...will upload it."

*work in progress*

Naw, go ahead and release it, we can always use new trucks.

I wasn't complaining at all, I think it looks just fine. Make another one now...
