I just downloaded a few trucks and they worked ok for a few races, but now whenever I enter them in a race I get an error at some point in the race. Can this be fixed or is this just badly programmed trucks?

Quite a few add-on trucks will crash your game when truck reflections is turned on. To be on the safe side, turn off both 'Reflections' & 'Truck Reflections' - should be ok then. ;)

You didn't say what the error message was, but I'm going to guess it's "can't environment map model" in which case you need to turn off truck reflections in graphic options. If it's something else you'll have to be more specific.

[ edit ] slow again.

That's one of the two error messages, but I can't find those options.

Here's my options screen:

See the button that says "Hardware Options" It's between graphic renderer and image quality on the left hand side. Click that, it's in there.

By the way, we have an error page that list many errors and some solutions if they're known.

http://cownap.com/~mtmg/errorlist.cgi

The matrix unbalance error can be found here

http://mtm2.com/~mtmg/errors.cgi?e=24

However, our description doesn't sound exactly like what you're describing. Can you tell us the truck so we can check it out too? Or maybe add anything else that might help nail it down?

matrix unbalance seems to be a pretty vague error. I'm guessing it can be caused many different ways. The one on the error page
"Occurs when switching to driver check-in after exiting a track for the second time following a bad texture size error which results from using a truck with a missing cone light texture."
is so specific chances that it's the only way to cause the error are low.

try taking out half the new trucks, then if u dont get the error u know that the error truck was in that half, then try taking out half of that half etc. until you narrow it down to what truck is causing the error. then we can more closely analyze the offender

Well, I know now that its easily fixed by simply closing MTM2 and opening it again, as it only happens after 2 or 3 races if it happens at all.

Could you tell us the names of the custom trucks you had podded when you got the error?

Perhaps one has a flaw that only surfaces under certain conditions, and it's something we can fix.

I'm assuming the crashes occured at least part of the time on stock tracks.

Just Star Wars Racer (the Podracer) and these three

The main error happened when I first tried to race the Podracer with the outside view, the game crashed when I tried to switch out of Cockpit view, but now its fixed.

They weren't on Stock tracks either, I'm pretty sure they were mostly on custom tracks.

Star Wars Racer http://mtm2.com/~trucks/trucks.cgi?s=star+wars+racer
Faces 2751
Verts 2536 (causes noah effect, and more)

Pokemon & Pokemon Extreme http://mtm2.com/~trucks/trucks.cgi?s=pokemon+extreme
Faces 1209
Verts 1182 (will cause environment map error)

KJ's Pokemon http://mtm2.com/~trucks/trucks.cgi?s=kj's+pokemon
Faces 337
Verts 377 (clear sailing)

I just had a look on c98 and the star wars racer definitely can cause track flooding, and there's no doubt it'll cause the environment map error as well as contribute to a too many verticies error. I didn't get the matrix error tho. Turning reflections off should take care of most of it.

OK, now all those errors are fixed, there's one more error that won't go away, it's not really a truck error, but I don't think there's a point in me making another thread for it.

Access Violation error
This is the same error shown on that page, but it doesn't fit the criteria on that page, the last time it happened I was racing with all stock trucks on this track. This error happens just after a race is finished and it should be about to show the Results Screen, after pressing the Close button, the game doesn't register input from the mouse but everything else seems to still work.
