I know this sounds kind of funny, but I am currently in progress of a soccer field race track. It is unusual - because it's in the middle of the desert! But, so what?

There are two teams (duh): Chevy and Ford. They play hard for the 4x4 Evolution II National Soccer Association of Chevy and Ford Playing for Evo and Blah Blah Blah.

But enough of the jokes. I think that this tournament might be fun even for those who have no interest in soccer (like me).

This game can be played with any even (2, 4, 6, or 8 ) number of multiplayer trucks. And the teams have perfectly the right number of players regardless! It's totally fair!

However, I need a bit of help. Nowhere can I find a ball!

Please donate a ten-foot soccer ball. It's easy enough. They only cost five billion dollars apiece.

Do you like my tournament plan?

I cant say i'm to enthousiastic about it either. I'm more into pure racing or even more just trying to run fast laps whenever i have some time available.

It might seem as a good idea but it's not really "workable". I know the hockey game in MTM2 was pretty uninteresting and considered it was a waste of time.

It's a good idea. But it wont work. Not in mtm2 at least. I dont know about the evo's but mtm2 keeps track of model locations locally. That means you only see an object as having been moved by another player if you actually SEE the other player move it. And it wont necessacarily move the same on your computer as it did on theirs and their team amte's and your team mates because mtm2 only sends out the local truck's position and velocity every one in a while and then the local mtm2 program estimates where everyone will move. That means the object (soccerball) location will only be estimated. And it never gets updated between computers so everyone only has estimated soccerball locations. In a game of two teams of four you really have more like 8 soccerballs - they just start all in one place.

The same problem has been rediscoverd many times by many people with many games:
Pool, soccer, hockey, and my favorite - a game where teams competed to round up cows. lol. too bad that one didnt work.

About a year ago, I was working on a Monster Truck sports centre. I made a tennis court and set that up for playing on before I ran out of time for various reasons. I never got going again after that and lost the project when I changed computers.

What about this: Build a special small truck with goofy parameters that everyone must mount, then someone volunteers to drive that truck in order to be the ball/puck/gamepiece.

That would work.
Very clever.
Someone should make an mtm2 bot that u can command to join a game. Hmmmmm. But that would require having a server. Wonder if u can join two mtm2 games from one computer. Hmmm.
