You know what would be a cool track idea?

A mock-up miniature world with satellite textures and proportional terrain... 8)

You'd need a pretty weird projection of the world, tho, to fit a spherical shape onto a square layout, but the grid is inherently a sphere anyway, right?

I think it would work, and it'd be cool.

cool pics, i like the 'rings' track, Malibu....

But I think the ppl of this site deserve something better...

Not just north america... not just a couple textures for grass, rock, and snow. Not just... uh... Saturn and its rings. :P

I think my next NEXT track will be something distinctively complex. I'm thinking that most of the size of this one will be from satellite images or realistic renderings of Earth.

And the name... simple. World Tour.

Hard part #1:

How to make both day AND night... haha

Hard part #2:

How to get distances and sizes right, while still keeping with the crazy projection needed to fit a square map. Not to mention applying textures.

Good news:

I have these awesome 'Earth at night' textures with lights where major metropolises and cities lie... and it's pretty high resolution to allow for the large area it'll need to occupy.

Don't forget the sun, and asteroids, and stars, and every other bit of junk out in space.

And I'll bet that using lifts, ramps, and such, you could even make black holes (checkpoints???)

Awesome ideas!

And, instead of a road and a map, the checkpoints would tell you where to go next!!! And if you don't know your geography, YOU LOSE!!! HAHAHAHA!

although... if you DID have to go across the world, the water should be shallow...

Any more ideas?

Actually, I meant "black holes as checkpoints" as driving into a black hole to make the checkpoint register.
