For any of you old-timers who may remember this great racer, friend and father..

It saddens me to inform you that Jim "Iceman" Pullen has passed away. He was one of the original greats in MTM1. He was not only an awesome racer.. he was a wonderful friend to those who knew him well.

I was informed by his son, that Jim passed away March 29, 2004 in the hospital of a heart-attack. Jim was approx. 56 years old, not positive on exact age.

If anyone remembers, Jim was the racer who won the Ford Explorer in the "MTM Challenge" sponsored by Microsoft and Cirrus Logic back in 1996.

I was honored to have known him.. we have lost a great person today.

If you can.. please express a few words to his family, as I have forwarded this link to his family. Let's show them that we care.

Thanks for listening..

Your old friend.. Spreker

I never met him, but it's a sad day indeed when a good one passes on.

Best wishes to his family.

Sorry to hear of the news, Snake had just sent me the link.
I was fortunate enough to have met Iceman in Vegas and was a good guy on and off the virtual racing track.

Though we didn't have anything in common beyond MTM games, he was fun to race with online as well as in person, and will be remembered.

My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

My wife and I were lucky enough to have met Iceman in Vegas, he was a really nice guy who was quick to smile.

Oh.... wow, I'm saddened to hear this. It was just over one week ago that I 'discovered' the website linked up above by Malibu350 and Phineus, after Alpine had posted the one image with names on it. The name "Iceman" on the pic seemed somehow familar to me, so I did search based on that and found the site, and even shared it with a few people. The site itself is like a historic document for MTM, it was interesting and I was quite pleased to have seen it. Well, my point here is that I had only just "met" Iceman, from afar as it were, by virtue of the website, and he seemed a genuinely likable fellow to me.

There is no doubt that losing someone suddenly is rough. To family and friends: you have my sympathies and well wishes. Treasure the good in memory, and please maintain your hope in the future.

God Bless.

Wint

Yeah Wint, I just got the link thru the pm you sent me. It's interesting how people dismiss MTM 2 and even riducule it for being an antiquated game not worth playing anymore. In my opinion they either overlooked or for whatever reason were never fortunate enough to experience the MTM community and all it has to offer. I personally still love playing the game, but in truth it's the people and the experiences I've shared with them that's kept me here...and I love it.

As for IceMan, he was before my time, but I do recall hearing the name once or twice. I wish I could have met him. From what I've read he sounds like a great guy. My sincere condolences to his friends and family.

Btw, great links you posted, Phin.

I think I only spoke to him a few times in a forum, but I do remember him. So sad.

My prayers go out to him and his loved ones. :(

I kept in touch with him through the years and talk to his sons (iceman_jr and Icy3) now and then as well. Icey will truly be missed by all especially us "original MTMers". All of us were family back then and Icey was part of that family. It feels like I lost a brother. My deepest sympathies go out to Mrs. Icey and family.

I never was able to attend the tourneys so I didn't meat anyone of the old school vets, but one page back on the BBS, I posted an old pic I found. Then someone was nice enough to post the link to the site. 'Iceman and Son's... is this the same Iceman? I could never be too sure...

Yes, this is very sad news, I met him once and he was a great guy, the nicest person in the world. He will be missed alot. I loved talking Nascar with him and harrasing him about his drivers and he would do the same to me.

My condolinces go out to Icejr and his whole family.

I knew Icy from his flying escapades...joined his squad in Air Warrior and followed him to Fighter Ace. I've known him and Icy2 for about 7 yrs now. He was definitely good people.

A big WOOF! from the Devil Dogs Squadron.

It looks like he was busy touching peoples lives on the track as well as in the skies.

My deepest condolences to the Pullin family...keeping you all in my prayers.

The Hired Guns of Fighter Ace wish to extend our condolences to the "DD" Squadron in their loss. It saddens all of us, and takes a little of our hearts away, when those we love depart this earth. May he fly forever in our hearts and dreams.
