Hey, guys. I've been working on a new truck that I would like to test out and get the lights/axles/etc. worked out. Unfortunately, after making the POD file and mounting it, MTM 2 does not start. When I unmount it, the game will then work. I have tried several times and only once came up with an error-something about the .TRK file can't be found or is invalid. I can't see why it would be that way because I copied other valid .TRK files to do it. Any suggestions? I'm on WinXP and I have not had any other issues so far.

How long is the truck's name? If it's long, try shortening it to under 32 characters. I had this problem just this past summer.

If the name change doesn't work, zip up the truck POD and email me a copy, and I'll give it a look-over....

"First Blood 93" is only 14 characters. I'll send it to ya tonight, BigDogge.

OK...problem solved, and the truck returned for completion.....The problem was missing files (custom sound files).

I sometimes have (had) that problem.

I'll release Boogey Foot and Wrecking Ball II soon.

WBII wouldn't work because it used many of the same file of Boogfoot, for some reason. My fix was to simply merge the Boogey Foot and Wrecking Ball II files into one.

The game is still refusing to start. I deleted all of my other custom pods from the INI and only added the truck, but still no dice. Everything looks OK in the TRK and the LST, but I may be missing something, I don't know. Can texture animations do it? I have one of BigDogge's animated engines in it and I don't know how that would affect writing the LST. Its not the sound, either...I changed the filenames in the TRK to stock sounds. Any suggestions?

Just to be clear. All the time, or just with this truck? Thinking about it, I had a problem like this in the summer. What happens if you delete the monster.ini file? Back it up first, of course, just in case.

His truck ran fine on both my machines (including the animation on the engines), but that was a beta version.....I podded it with Tracked2.

If you are re-podding it with an LST file, then you may be leaving a required file out of the POD....I still have your beta version of the truck, but I imagine you have made changes to it by now. Send the zipped POD to me or Phin, and we will most likely be able to find any errors within it.

Cale, have you tried cpod? You just right click on the trk file and "send to" cpod. If anything's wrong, it'll tell you. Very handy program.

I will try that. It may have to wait a few weeks, I am on a different computer until I get back to college and my regular computer (the one the truck is on) has no floppy drive :x .

Thank you very much for the help...I guess I'm a litty rusty still :)

One more question about this...can other types of TRK files on a computer affect the MTM 2 TRKs? I also play GeneRally and the track files in that (which are editable using an editor that comes with it) also are TRK. AFAIK my problems started after downloading GR so I am wondering if that isn't the problem.

I will get cpod as soon as I get back to school early next week.

One should have nothing to do with the other, unless you try to run an mtm pod in the other game that is.

You play GeneRally as well? Have you logged into the forums or posted tracks on the Race Sim Central forums?

I had a track on the Database, expect to see more from me once I get back to school and LAN lines. 8) I've been trying to make trucks for that too but the modelers that are used are a bit tricky...plus the 40 vert/40 poly limits are tough to get around (and you thought 1000 was tough!).
