I've got this "zone.com" software working, im logged into the rooms, I click on "join game" and....

it says: "we can't detect Monterstruck madness installed on your system... please re-install the game and try again..."

so I did... and it did the same thing...

anyone have this trouble... anyone fix it? or do you know a better place to game against people?

Do you have the game installed to the correct folder?

C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Monster Truck Madness 2

I know you'll get that if it isn't installed to the default directory. I've even had that problem by deleting my shortcuts in my Start/Programs menu too. I tried to just have the shortcut on my desktop for the game, and I got that error once. So I created the shortcuts back to the start menu, and it worked fine.

That software can be kinda picky sometimes, it has to be where it's supposed to be by default, or it'll be kinda crabby for ya.

Another thing, to play on the Zone you have to have the patch.

Another thing to try:

DELETE your MSN Game Zone files and reinstall them.

1) Look in your Control Panel under "Add/Remove Programs" and uninstall "MSN Game Zone".

2) To be on the safe side, let your GAME direct you to the correct spot in the Zone. Make sure you are online, then start MTM2 and switch to the MULTIPLAYER screen. Click the "CONNECT" button, then click the "INTERNET GAMING ZONE" button. Follow the onscreen prompts to install the Zone files.

Good luck!

ok let me say what I've already done.

1 it's a proper copy, CD is in the CD drive, game is installed in the right place (default location), I havn't run the patch yet, so I'll try that,

havn't got a folder in my start menu... it's never made one anytime I've installed the game on this windows 98 se machine,

I've already re-installed the game files... nothing...

I did have an error when installing MTM2 it askes me to check the CD's in... I clikc "retry" and it works fine and the game runs...

oh and I always launch The zone thingy from MTM2's multiplayer menu....

anyone got any ideas? :(

Make sure any firewalls you use are turned off when you install the zone files, and when you enter the zone, and when you launch a game. Firewalls cause all sorts of problems. This could include pop up stoppers, software firewalls, and firewalls built into a router or the software you use to access the internet or something your isp uses.

Install the patch before you do anything else, it's what makes alot of the Zone work, and work with each racer together possible.

Then go try it, it it still doesn't work, then it almost has to be a firewall issue, I'm going thru the same troubles myself right now.

I can get on and get into the rooms, but when they launch the game, I always get left behind. When the all come back to see what happened to me, then my game launches. I know where my problem is, it's in my router. Soon as I get the reading material to tell me how to shut it off, I'll be back in business. Still waiting for someone to tell me how *ahem* Hot Shoe *ahem*

But from what you said so far, it seems you have everything installed correctly now. I never used to have any problems, but I now I run a wireless modem card, and a new router, before I ran a hub. I want to race myself, if anyone else knows how to shut down the router firewall I have, I'd greatly appreciate some help myself.

I'm about to take a hammer to mine.

I've done everything that those instructions have suggested, and still nuttin.

I went on, ran one race with a bud of mine. Then we got invited buy a bunch of others for us to join them, so we did, and same thing, everyone in the room got mad at me cuz they thought i was the source of the problem. After some fairly witty banter on my part, and some slams on some of the guy's mothers, I finally left.

It's just not worth it, all this hassle to run one race, is ridiculous. Very frustrating, my short fuse isn't good for this kind of fun. Especially trying to run with the RIP guys, they have no tollerance for small failures. They excited pretty quickly. I can handle my own, but this hardly seems worth it.

as for the *beep* holes who seem to be on there all the time I know the bunch! I had a run in with them.... wh don't we set up a table just for MTMGForum users?

anyway... I go to try that again...
