I was reluctantly inviegled into going to the theatre yesterday... my stepson and his friend needed me to be the "adult 'cos they wanted to see Terminator 3. While buying the tickets the missus noticed that the theatre was showing "28 days later" (we have see a few small ads for this movie on TV) so we decided to go see that as the kids went in to watch their Arnie movie. Sheesh...what a great movie 28 days turned out to be. "horror or "zombie" movies are not my particular favorite genre but this was so.... different.
Made by the same guys who did Trainspotting, this fascinating Brit movie gets 2 thumbs up from me.

I've never seen trainspotting but the book was excellent. Thanks for the heads up on 28 days.

It's a very rare occasion when the movie turns out to be as good as, or better than the book (by Irvin Welsh I believe). Go rent Trainspotting, you will not be disappointed. The soundrack and surrealistic filming technique, alongside the gritty storyline gives this movie a particular appeal. I remember you saying you enjoyed Blue Velvet - that movie too had something in common with the the aforementioned movies - but I can't quite put my finger on it.

I want to see 28 Days. I love horror movies.

Everyone I've talked to that have seen it already, say it is great.

They said that it's not "Scary" as in slasher, blood & guts stuff. But it's really a mind bender, and freaks you out.

I gotta go see that, and soon.

Surreal is not a word I would use to describe anything (well, except maybe blood dance but that was just for fun) but iggy pop is a pretty cool dude, hehe. Anyway, I will one day and let you know.

Prolly cuz Blue Velvet fits neither the "horror" nor "zombie" genre. I can't speak of the others (yet) so it's best I leave it there for now.

And how is Terminator 3????

My stepson tells me it was good... but confusing. He kept babbling on about "nobody wins".

I've heard some people say T3 was better than T2, which isn't easy to acomplish....everyone has different tastes tho.....

I'd say seeing T3 wouldn't be a waste of time.....I'm going to go eventually.

JAWS (book better) - different ending
SHINING (book bettr, but still a great movie) - different ending
SHOGUN (2-book story better) - the book translated the Japanese way of thinking, ...the movie didn't.
DUNE (excellent trilogy...horrible movie)

I'd have to say the BBC mini-series on" The Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy" was well done...I've read it, seen it, and heard the LP record versions.

One that may come very close for me for being an excellent book-to-movie translation is the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.....I've only seen the first movie so far, and have been quite impressed.



Some that must be exempted are books like STAR WARS or ALIEN, where the book was released at the same time or after the movie was....those are just written from the screenplay.

That must be because of a T4 sequel hehehe

Also want to see 28 Days Later... i originally thought it was just another teen slasher/zombie_brain_eater movie...

Jurrasic Park the book was better
Jurrasic Park II (Lost World) the movie was better but thats not saying much
Jurrasic Park III? wtf did they make that for?

One more movie to look forward to in the future......STARSKY & HUTCH....

They even have an identical red Ford Torino with a white side-stripe to use in it.....!

I read the books when I was a kid and when I heard about the movie I re-read the books...man did I forget alot of stuff.
I saw both movies and am well please. The part where Gollum argues with himself was good almost convinced me he was real and not some computer anime. Looking forward to the 3rd moive, heard its longer than the others...hope i dont burst my bladder.

Loved that show, dont care about the car. Hope it will be good movie.

Since I am a big SciFi fan I gotta say I am looking forward to the remake of Battlestar Galactica as a mini series on Sci-Fi channel. Due to air in December.

Hey, me to kruzr. I liked Battlestar Galactica. I watch a lot of the SciFi channel.

I read some articles about the new Battlestar Galactica....

One of the actual main actors of the movie said if you are familar with the original show and movie, then you may not like this version......they really re-made the whole bit....In fact one of the main male roles is now a female!

I took my son to see 2Fast 2 Furious, we liked it (please don't flame for saying that). Definately aimed at the teenage crowd though.

The best thing I have watched recently was Xmen 2 and Pirates of the Carribean, I am a big Johnny Depp fan ever since Sleepy Hollow, Blow and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
