Rhubarb -- a Monster Truck Madness 2 track by Wint

Why the name Rhubarb? Even while I was trying to think of a name
for the track I was eating a piece of homemade strawberry-rhubarb
pie. Eureka! At the same tasty moment I realized the colors of
the green vegetation and the red trees in the track reminded me
of rhubarb (which is a big, leafy plant with celery-like stalks
that are used for pies and jams). Also, considering the terrain
was a direct adaptation of my "Ruach" track I thought the name
fit, since it has a vaguely similar look and sound. I also figured
some people would like it and others would hate it, just like the
very tart rhubarb. And! rhubarb is also a slang term that means
"a quarrel, fight, or heated discussion", which seems suitable
for a tricky little racing track.

How did it come about? When I was making the track "Ruach"
 ( available at http://mtm2.com/~trackville/tracks/ruach.htm )
I created some off-track roads, upon reflection I realized I
could squeeze a whole new track out them with a little effort.
So, I changed the central portion of the terrain, removed the
sandy/clay textures, made few tweaks around the perimeter and
the result is "Rhubarb". If you compare the two tracks you will
find the terrain is mostly identical. The Rhubarb terrain was
completed without consideration for objects, their choice and
positioning was determined by doing countless laps on the empty
track until I could visualize what would work, and where, thus
the village idea was born (Wake Up! was developed the same way).

What's to see? All models in this track are off to the edges of
the course and are used only for visual effect, none of them are
obstacles and as such many of them are non-collidable. However,
every possible line of sight along every meter of track has been
carefully crafted for maximum visual effect, for cockpit or chase
views. For example, as you make the jump you can see down and
to the left, observing trucks passing by if there are any, and off to
the right you can observe them rounding the bend in the distance.
As you proceed around the bend it's no accident that you can glimpse
the top of the church, framed by trees. As you come down the hill
toward the finish line the entire vista has been arranged so that
objects are spaced into the distance, providing a pleasant view but
also giving a true sense of perspective and speed as you pass through.
At every point trees provide visual cues for following the course.

Lastly, there is a wooden cross in the track, a Christian symbol,
a symbol of hope and a promise of mercy, a reminder of great
things done for our benefit, in love. It's also promise of pain
and discomfort in this world should you take it up.

The track was built using the latest and greatest versions of
Traxx and BinEdit, both of which MUST be seen by all editors
of our game! New in 2005, both have been greatly enhanced,
if this is news to you then update your versions, today.

This pod plays best when mounted using
Cowpod, the spiffing new utility. Really!

Drive2Survive created the wind turbines for
his track Silverrim Speedway, I changed them
slightly for my own uses. Thanks for them, buddy!

The music soundtrack is a .MOD file,

The village building textures were an adaptation of a
texture from a game called N.I.C.E.2 or Breakneck,
which is another editable racing game and a favorite of mine.

 Finally...

There is a sign in the track, labelling a building,
this is a subtle nod to a gem of a community member.

No moose were harmed during the making of this track. In fact,
though none were observed, they were given access to as much
fresh rhubarb, purslane and spring water as they wished to consume.

Fila was harmed, slightly, during the making of this track.

Team SLO raced many other circuits, oblivious to all else,
during the making of this track.

I ate rhubarb thrice during the making of this track.

I hope "short track" Charles likes this one. ;-)
