Awesome job!!!!!! Do you think you can do more? I love them on 4x4 evo but they are twice as cool on mtm2 cause you can race comp trucks and the texture is great.
Actually there should be an icon with two thumbs up! Hehe--looks like we have an old master paying us a visit, and he didn't come empty handed either!
I can't speak for EVO since I don't play it, but the MTM 2 version of this track is definitely right on the money. For starters, the track is...well, it's beautiful! Hehe-not too many guys are crazy about that word unless it's being pointed at a female, but I figured "beautiful" is a slightly better choice than "gorgeous".
Already I've heard a few different opinions on this track, but you know what - one look at it and you definitelty know this is the work of a "pro". Nope, not trying to sugarcoat this review in hopes of Mal sending me a check (tho that wouldn't be such a bad thing); I'm just calling it like I see it.
It's a very tight, somewhat curvy track with varying elevation changes...and I happen to think it makes for a great one-on-one track. I'm not sure what setting he used for the road texture, but it's "just" slippery enough to give you the feeling of being on partly snow, partly ice covered roads...and it's perfect! Furthermore, I absolutely love the detail in this baby, and the flag at the end off to the right as you head toward the finish line is a very nice touch!
I would say this one is very much on the pro level, but intermediates shouldn't shy away from it. If nothing else, this track will force you to learn control and patience. You definitely won't be barrelling thru this thing with the accellerator continuously mashed to the floor if you hope to see the finish line in under 2 minutes.
Speaking of which, nice lap time, Mal!!
I'm almost at a lost of what to say, really. I think this is one of those times where I see so many good qualities in a track that I'm incapable of putting it all into words. But for those who appreciate such high standards...they'll know exactly what I mean.
This is one of the few tracks whereby I highly recommend complex scenery - it's just dang nice to look at, and the battleship is simply...magnificant! Exceptional work on this one, Mal - outstanding track, bud. This one here get's a "Copey rating" of...10!!!!

WOW Mal, this track freakin' ROCKS!!!!
Looks better than I thought any track could in MTM2, definitely gives a challenge & is simply fun to drive!! Tho one thing bugs me tho, how did u manage a 1:15? lol So far I've only managed a 1:21, sure it can be improved, but knocking 6 seconds off it, hmmmm....I don't see that happening lol
One last thing, interesting that you brang this over from 4x4, any chance that other tracks could be brang over too? Or was this just a special occasion type of track?

Geeeezz Cope, between you and 2stepper I may need to get some plastic surgery done to deflate my head, it feels two sizes to large right now, lol
... thanks pops, Phin, and Gutterboy too for the kind words... but this track would not have been possible without the beautiful and yes, dare I say gorgeous textures and great models from the artists at TRI... and the help from my buddies here in MTM2 and over at 4x4evo...
I've already begun work on the next one, and the plan right now is to do them all from evo 1 and 2... and after each one is complete everything from the track is put up for dl at my scraps page for all track makers to make full use of if they'd like..
as for that 1:15,
I never said I ran it, I said "a good lap" is around 1:15,.. my best is 1:21, but if you take that number then SLO=mc²'it then you should by all means come out with a 1:15
, its now up to Jumper, N8, Cope, Preacher and the rest of the gang to prove my theory correct lol
[edit] checks in the mail...

I tried that 4X4 EVO long ago, never really got hooked on it but I tell ya man, makin those tracks for MTM2 is a pretty slick idea man. Arctic has got to be one of the most original layouts yet. Ya don't see a track like that very much. I've seen a lot of "pretty" tracks that don't do much for racin, but i gotta say this one has got the best of both worlds. Looks cool, and it's really fun to play! Can't wait to get about 3 or 4 friends with me on this one and have some truly exciting races.
Very cool Malibu!
Very cool Malibu!
Havent raced it yet for mtm2 but that sounds really really cool. I too have 4x4evo bu never got hooked. Somthing about the tires being so small i think.
How exactly do you convert a track? Do you actually have to put the textures on manually or can that data be saved. I know you could save the height map.
