Greetings all, I'm new to both MTM2 and the whole painting thing. However, I want to design monster trucks for hopefully a side career. I have read the "Make a truck using C-pod" and I have converted all the files, downloaded all programs needed, etc. I have PSP4. Where it begins to talk about painting trucks on the C-Pod sight, it just says "remove the stock paint". How do you do this? And say if I'm using the Bigfoot body, how do I change the base color from blue to say, green? I've never been real good at using paintshop tools, so any help I would greatly appreciate. I hope to be making trucks that look as good as all of yours someday!

In a nut shell what you are doing is simply repainting the art files (ACTs and RAWs) that the model (BIN) uses.it just says "remove the stock paint"
C-POD will convert the associated RAW/ACT art files to BMP format. Once in BMP format you can open them up in paint shop pro and paint them any color you like. After you've repainted the BMP(s) rename them to something unique (8 characters max) and then use C-POD again to convert them back to RAW/ACT format. Your next step would be to replace the old textures associated with the model bin with your new ones and that's covered well in the C-POD tutorial.

If you've not done any painting at all, then the place to start, I suppose, would be to get familiar with the paint program itself.... which can be quite daunting to a new comer because there is a lot of tools and features. To help with this, alpine wrote up a description of some of the most common tools in paint shop pro. You can find it here.

Painting a truck, or even just blanking one out, is done by using the available tools to achieve the effrect you're after. There is no single way to do anything since most things can be accomplished a number of different ways. As you become more familiar with painting, you will find or develop the methods you like best. To help with this, you can search the net for painting tutorials.
