MTM2 and Gamespy

Post by Tyler Wysocki »

after doing a reinstallation of Gamespy to renew a lost file, i made gamespy browse my program files folder for games. one of the games it found, at seemed to be compatible was MTM2. i entered it, even though no one was in there. is there a slight possibility that i would be able to host a game in gamespy and people would be able to join it and play with me?

I've also years ago, played it on KALI too, but I don't know if that is around anymore.

There are a few places we can still play, after they shut down the Zone... even though we shouldn't have to look anywhere else, but we do because Microsoft are a bunch of idiots.

Hey - if MTM2 works for GameSpy, wouldn't that be a decent replacement for the Zone when it goes off the air?

hmm lately gamespy's latest version hasnt been friendly to me. it keeps saying that the version in the exe doesnt match the latest version. every time i reinstall it, it works one time, then the same message comes up. i would love to play people online for once, without trouble.

HAHA no replacement

when the zone MTM2 room is gone, we are all heading to the direct play area, which allows you to host a number of games, including MTM2. The URL looks like this: http://zone.msn.com/en/root/cdclassic.htm you click the Direct Play at the bottom, and there u find the MTMers setting there, waiting for the show to start.

Thanks AlpineGZ. Easy to find.

Tyler, cant you play MTM2 on Msn-Messenger? I know thats not Zone. When I first ran this game I never went to the Zone. Hated it. So me and my buds would play on line with Messenger. Thanks to Cope and Team Slo, I finally found a reason to go there{The Zone}. Wasn't for those guys, I'd more than likely not be here now.

One positive in the lan room, is in general, only those that have the game you want to host a room for can join your room.

I did find a registry entry to Trick the zone into thinking you have a supported game. This will not cause the game room to auto launch but it allows access to host a room.

I made a launcher utility for Xpand Rally that sets the registry to let you in using the Xpand Rally name. Players can at least separate into race rooms this way and then use the copy and paste function of my utility to launch. If someone hasn't done this edit they can't join your race room.

I'm hosting a tourney Feb 19th in the Lan room to see how it works out.
