Rockwell axles...

Post by Rep Fan »

anyone have any pics of any?

I wanna make a set for a lil project I'm working on. I want to make a very detailed set for it.

I know some guys on the Evo2 site have made some, but I'd rather have some pics of some real ones, so I can do it myself.

I've Google'd, and eBay'd so far, and I got nuttin, so if anyone has any good close ups of a set, I'd appreciate it.

I want to put them on that. I wanted to build a stock bodied Monster Truck, with a super-detailed suspension and frame, and all under 1400 verts.

That's the goal anyway.

Where would we find something like that for real? Might be easiest to locate something and take some pics.

They were under almost every military truck.

GMC's, Dodge's, etc. I saw only one pic for one, but it was only a 2 1/2 ton axle, which isn't much different than a regular pick up axle.

I Googled for pics under images, I'm going to try the regular search. These mosnter truck guys have to be getting them from somewhere. I know a few companies make them, I just don't know what they are.

2-1/2 ton Rockwell toploaders with aftermarket disc brakes.

2-1/2 ton Rockwell toploaders - front & rear.

As you can see and read on the monster tech page, the 5 tons and 2-1/2 ton axlesare similar, with the 5 ton axles being thicker and beefier, so these pics should help with details, and the monster tech pic of the 5 ton for rough dimensions.

After looking at the pictures, and studying the axles that I normally use, turns out I made them purdy close to a real set of Rockwells already.

Just take a stock axle, flip it so it lays flat, resize some things, and add a rounded bowl on the bottom side, and a couple boxes in the right places on the top, and you're done.

I mostly needed pics so I could paint on the bolts that hold everything together, and put them in the right places. So some fancy painting and mapping, and I already had what I needed right under my nose.
