The problem you talk about (game launching, not seeing anyone) happened to me on a few ocasions:

1. The game just started badly (not properly synced), usually a restarting/rehosting the game should do it. On bad days it takes even more tries.
2. The firewall is the problem. Not configured properly. If he/she has a firewall and doesn't know how to configure it he/she should disable it before launching the game to see if it works.

Is this person new to the game?

If he is hosting the game, after launch he may want to wait a bit longer to give others a chance to show up in the game. Sometimes it takes a while.

I realize this may have already been looked at, just a shot in the dark that's all, some newer players may be a little too quick to see it as a problem rather than wait up to see if the other players show.

Just a thought.

It does look like a Router problem. If so you dont really want my help lol. but what i do know is that you either need to set the puter you want to playwith as a DMZ host.
