PSP7

Post by EmceeMart »

I have recently d/led the evaluation version of PSP7 (33+ Megs)... it is an .exe (self extracting) file. When I run the file the install wizard gives me all the relevent prompts, and I follow them as instructed, but during the "extracting files" stage I keep getting the following error message:
"internal error 2355"
I have e-mailed Jasc technical support describing this prob and am still awaiting a reply. In the meantime has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know what this error is?
I disabled the anti-virus program thinking could be that, still no go. Maybe there are references to previous PSP programs lingering somewhere in the dreaded registry?
Any clues would be appreciated.

I just downloaded PSP7.0 eval from ZDnet and it works fine. My only trouble now is deciding whether or not I'm going to use it. I'm used to 5.0 and photoshop is the big card and ol' photopaint is always on the back burner. Hmmm.

I am really tempted to buy the latest version of PSP because of all the support and info one can get fron the net... but if I can't install it, what's the point?
Support for Corel seems to be dwindling (it's never been too great anyways) and Adobe Photoshop seems to be the choice of the commercial market. So how much can I expect to shell out for Photoshop? (I'm thinking along the lines of an investment to earn money - not just as a way to continue my hobby)

95% of my programs are shareware, lol, no wait, I mean, I've been given most of the things I use. I have the retail disks, honest I do. I think adobe is expensive. But I've seen your work with corel and it looks very good. Can't keep going with that? I think if I were in the market for something I'd do a web search first and try to find something around where I live. But even before that, I'd try a different mirror for psp. Could be you just got a bad copy of the file. Use gozilla (or whatever) and let it download over night. What's one more try compared to several hundred bucks?

Adobe Photoshop Store Page ouch.

welp the good/bad news is I had a very informative response from Jasc.... seems like my download was a few K's short... so I guess I have to do the whole d/l again (sigh)...
So I guess you were right Phin, I just had a bad download... I'll try again tomorrow.

Good news! I finally managed to d/l PSP7 (updated to the latest version of Gozilla while I was at it). Just as well 'cos I lost the connection at 97% but with Gozilla I was able to resume. I haven't tried all the new features of PSP yet but it looks like a great improvement over previous versions.

Photoshop RULEZ for me, but I must admit I'm very happy to get a free copy from them every time (my boss is a retailer, he gets it free and gives it away;-)).

No matter how good, Adobe is way too expensive in ALL their products IMO. (I know I got them all;-)))
