Fly!

Post by NKAc_Street »

Any sources to get FLY! from?

TRI released a Bin editor here

AVSIM

From the top text menu go to file library and then from the lowest search box select FLY! DEVELOPMENT. There are also some stand alone bin makers there that I snagged and will try out.

Anyway, you have to have the fly! game installed for it to work, but I am having a hard time finding a source to buy it. Sure sounds like an interesting program to play around with.

I'd rather not get it from e-bay if I can help it.

I haven't hung around Fly! for a very long time now. From what I hear, one of the best features of the editor is that it will cram textures... meaning it will make composits from 3dsm/lightwave scenes.

Please let us know if you make any amazing discoveries ;-)

I don't remember if there's a fly demo. If there is, there's a workaround you might try.

I don't think I ever saw a demo either.

I found it at one place. though the price seems high. http://www.shoplet.com/cdrom/db/70320.html

I wonder if the programs will work with FLY II. It seems easier to obtain.

UPDATE: Sorry, but it seems that site is out of stock.

Hmmmm...a friend of mine may still have FLY! I'll have to ask when I see him this sunday.

Some of those programs look interesting. perhaps useful for track-making...

----------------------------
Color Bitmap ( for ColorBMP)

File Description:
As it's name implies, ColorBMP is a program created to add color to an eight bit 256 level Black and White Windows Bitmap Image The program can also interactively modify the color palette of an existing color eight bit Bitmap image. A paint program such as Paintshop Pro 6 (PSP6) can also colorize a B&W bitmap, but not in the manner that ColorBMP does. ColorBMP's unique claim to fame is that it allows a bitmap palette's 256 levels to be broken into four ranges. The color of the beginning and end of each of the four color ranges can be set interactively. Once set, the hue, saturation, and optionally, the luminance varies linearly across the range. The intended use of the program was to "colorize" mosaics of black and white Orthophotos. These mosaics are earth warped aerial photographs used to produce ground terrain scenery for the Flight Simulator FLY!™ by Terminal Reality.(MR)

----------------------------
..might be useful for track scenery

DisplayDATA for Fly!

File Description:
DisplayDATA is a Terminal Reality FLY!™ developers utility. It's input is the FLY Scenery.ACT and .RAW normal tile files produced by the FLY Scenery editor or extracted from a packed scenery .EPD file such as that created by TS2.

It's output is a 24 bit "true color" bitmap display and file containing either a diagram showing the location of each .ACT/.RAW normal tile pair or a bitmap image created from the .ACT/.RAW file pairs. Beginning with Version 1.2 and later, DisplayDATA also produces a Tile Info Text file needed by the author's program DisplayCoord.exe. Copyrighted Freeware by Larry Jones. (JO)

--------------------
This is neat! If only we could make it work in MTM2 (with trucks, not skyhawks)

Formation Fly!ing (DLL & Code Example)

File Description:
This DLL will create Two Skyhawk Aircraft to fly in formation with the User's Aircraft.(MR)

--------------------

I didn't see any 3d modeling programs, but there's some nice models there that may work in MTM2, including a package of 23 different trees, and some fence models.
