Hi br8bbit313, welcome to mtm2.

As far as I know, the "can't find MTM2 on your hard drive" message comes from not having a retail install. I know because I copied the mtm2 folder from my old hard drive to a new one and I get that message. A reinstall should get rid of it.

Welcome aboard! ...and don't be afraid to advertise or promote anything game related.

Missing registry entries must be your problem, most likely the following key (and the info listed under it).

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Monster Truck Madness\2.0

(generally: I wonder if the "ProductID" value listed under there is unique to each machine or copy)

You need to re-install MTM2 of course, or find someone with the skill and willingness to send you .REG files you can use.

I might be able to help. What is your operating system?

Are you using a microsoft CD? Or a copy of one?

If you have the shareware version I've seen on file-sharing networks (like KAZAA), then you are out of luck. It won't accept patches or allow ZONE play. I tried it while my CD was misplaced.

If it's the DEMO version, then similar limits apply.

It just occurred to me this might be a firewall problem. I wonder what port the zone looks for?

Do firewalls prevent people from accessing the zone? Maybe that is why I haven't been able to get on at all. Is there a way to get around firewalls?

I haven't tried this yet, but I found the port information

quote:
Zone.com requires that the following TCP ports be open to sign in, chat, or connect to game rooms or lobbies:

[*]80
[*]443
[*]6667
[*]28800-29100
[/list]
