Of course, we'll find a few dead links and such, but we'll get those sorted out as they come up.

Don't forget to update your bookmarks :-)

Thanks Copey. But I may have one more favor to impose before I'm done.

Psyco, lol, you lose yer sense of humor? karf.net will not die for a while yet. But that doesn't mean you can load it up with spam e-mails, hehe. Anyway, the story is we just outgrew karf.net and it was time to move along. Simple as that.

Yes, everything is fine on my end. Lots to complain about but no real complaints, if you know what I mean. Anyway, good to see you still around.... maybe you should keep the car outta the mud and stay on the comp more :-) (I mean you on the comp, not the car). As for the track, I liked the first short version better than the longer version. If you go with the second one, then it needs a hill on the right side of the road someplace. I feel like I'm driving on the side of a slant all the time, lol.

Thats good... My only complaint is that my senior year has sucked.... I work all the time and dont get to party any... Now I'm fixing to have to get a 2nd job.... there goes my sleep... Oh well...

>>>then it needs a hill on the right side of the road someplace.

The zip is still in the same place it was... show me where you want it and I'll see what i can do... heh...

Just say the word, Phin - I'm ready (I think lol).

Psyco - good to hear you still plan on releasing the track. I will say that the first version may appeal to more ppl. It's brief and to the point, has a nice, easy flow to it along with areas requiring a little finesse. Still, if you went with the longer version I wouldn't complain one bit. Image

Edit: There - fixed your name, Psyco. I was in auto mode and just went with an abbreviatd form of the word "Psychology". I know better, tho. Musta forgot where I was for a moment lol.

Anyway, all I want to do is backup karf.net and put it on cd but I'm timing out lately for some reason. When/if you have a bit of time, I'll send the login info.

And finally, check out the new sig, lol.

I was thinking to put a few buttons on the front door here and came across one for the sig. I changed my mind about the buttons (I'll say no more on that) but I wouldn't mind if somebody could convert it to a favicon.ico - themes can be fun.

Anyway, I sent a note your way.

Don't ask. Let's just say creating the track page is easier to work with than the forum code. Sheesh and oh brother!

edit. If you want something done right, best do it yourself. Saves a ton o time and aggrevation.

Can you say "whew!" ?

Summary of changes

Cross References
- update (harder than it had to be)

General
- auto sigs (clean)
- total posts ever <font size=1>(prunecount.cgi)</font>
- who's on (which needed modification)
- last post by (my own :-)
- message box and submit button adjustments
- smilies
- text smilies

Two admin hacks
- edit profiles (the easy way)
- custom titles

Done a long time ago
- all caps
- multi page link
- UBBCode Buttons (improved x2 this month)
- emoticons

That's all I can remember. Most of these are ready-made that you find on the net - you just have to figure out how to make them work - but some mods don't work cuz they're just bad or poorly done (so you need to restore a back up and begin again), some are for the wrong forum version (so they need to be adapted, and if they can't then it's another restore), and after you've done several mods you end up needing to mod the mods (which may not work, or are for the wrong version, or you have to mod yet other mods to make it happen and if you can't, restore again). Others are my own invention and nowhere else to be found. Overall, I think we're okay so far.

The question
- Should I add avatars (if yes, what?)
- <strike>Should I add smilies (coded or extra page like evo)</strike>

looks great Phin

just fyi I showed as a guest even though I had made posts today until I went in and edited my profile a bit then my name popped up in "who's on"

avatars... I don't really care either way.

smilies... a larger assortment would be nice, a coded or pop-up page? whatever's easier for you to set up would be fine

wondering... is there any way to make this reply window larger, width wise?

thinking out loud... I can hardly believe how much you got done in such a short amount of time, thx

I don't know what's up with the cookies. They're the absolutely last thing I've never bothered with. I had the same problem on the old new revamped evo forum. I deleted a few biscuits from the browser, closed it or rebooted the next day and eventually the problem cleared itself. There's obviously a conflict but I wouldn't know where to begin looking. I may one day tho. I saw a new trick that makes good use of a cookie (besides saving the trouble to retype passwords). But all in good time.

>> avatars... I don't really care either way.

I think the only reason I mentioned it was I scrounged and found some code that I didn't know what to do with two years ago. lol, I'm a slow learner. Anyway, I liked obe's on the ikonboard. I thought I saved them but nope, only got the early ones...(or lost them last year).. and they weren't as good and certainly don't match the colors here. ... Oh, here's what I was looking at.
http://mtm2.com/monsterpatrol.gif

I'd have to make them tho. I can see some leeway, but hey this is a mtm2 site so it has to stay relevent. If repfan hands over 15 or 20 of his trucks, I'd prolly go for those instead... hehe

>> smilies... a larger assortment would be nice

Okay, I'm pleased with the way they came out. The 'last post by' is by far the best one I've done, but the smilies rank right up there. Click the legend link and try it out. Not original, but a major deal for this old board.

>> wondering... is there any way to make this reply window larger, width wise?

Done. Added some style properties to them too. Now that's done, I can change everything quite easily, if you don't like the new look. And the buttons are aligned better too, and there's room for another emoticon (that's those things ^^^ up there) so I'm open to suggestion. And I added a proper reset button as well as a clear reply window too (careful with that one).

thinking out loud... I can't believe how much time I spent on this stuff. Timing was right tho.

-------------

edit. I deleted all cookies for here in the browser, then deleted cookies using forum preferences (link up top), then closed the browser. Then came back and reset preferences and the profile. So far, it's looking fine.

hmm. I wonder if I could make a preview window pop up.
