Magnified face mapping

I must thank MIYH for the idea behind this one.

Mapping a face group to a very small portion of a texture can sometimes be difficult, but with the help of a magnification tool this becomes very easy to do. When working in the BINedit face mapping screen while watching the magnified view you can easily adjust your work on a pixel by pixel basis.

I tried many different magnifiers with the intent to use them with BINedit and the one that worked the best is "Another Lens v1.0". It works the best because it does not dither or smooth the pixels in the magnification window, it gives the most accurate and realistic view of your work. It is also fully configurable, with lots of nice options. It is small, nicely made program, it is also unrestricted freeware, with full distribution permission and even comes with it's source code

sounds good. I downloaded it but will have to play with it when I get more time. Nice utility

I too downloaded this fine sounding utility but have yet to try it out. Sounds ideal for the job. Thanks for the info and link WK.

I just tried this and have to say it works great. Takes about twenty seconds to get used to what's going on, but then it's smooth sailing after that.

Thanks for keeping the zip available. I had to come back and get it.

I grabbed that thing the first time it came up on this board, and it lives on my quick start bar, right between my video editor and the little program I made to copy my signature to the clipboard. I'm clicking it now, and... oooooh, here it is!

I personally use Microsoft Magnifier- its under "START-PROGRAMS-ACCESSORIES-ACCESSABILITY" in windows ME/98

Hey winterkill! I kliked on that link above, and only got a message stating that 'this page is not available'

Can anyone post it in their utility section? Sure would like to try it in binedit.

You must "copy and paste" the URL to the address bar of your web browser (hope that helps)

SIG's choice is a good one, in fact MIYH first suggested the Windows magnifier to me, but I didn't have my CD handy at that time so sought out the one I ended up recommending here. "Another Lens" certainly takes up much less drive space than the Microsoft one, but they are both IDEAL magnifiers for this task. I just installed the Windows one for the first time, if someone else want's to here's what to do: (assuming it's not already installed) put your Windows CD in the drive, then click the Start Menu, go to "Settings" -- "Control Panel", then click "Add/Remove Programs" then click the "Windows Setup" tab, select the "Accessibilty" options and install the "Accessibility Tools".

I'm glad others have enjoyed using these tools but I must admit, on my current computer both magnifiers can sometimes manage to conflict with Binedit along the way, leading to frequent bin editing crashes.
