If that's the case, then Mr. Smith, I think you should consider going back to AVG. Something is leaching onto your system like it hadn't oughta and it could very well be that. At the very least, get rid of it until the problem clears. You can always put it back later if it comes down to it.

Pros: none, did not install correctly, nor is it a tool worthwile to install

Cons: You will spend hours trying to remove this program, on install and first run it is useless and only prompts to buy the product, look in any spyware/malware forums for this product and you will spend hours reading of people trying to remove this program with no success, it will flood your browser with pop-ups and there is no simple way to remove it.. it IS malicisious code! Please remove it from this trusted site!!!

Unethical Goading Practice - AVOID!

Reviewer: jastracani

Pros: None.

Cons: WinAntiVirus tries to masquarade itself as an "anti-virus" software, but in fact tries to advertise itself by exploiting your ActiveX control features and thus makes annoying popups every half hour or so, no matter what site you visit - and ironically, you cannot stop this until you have a REAL anti-virus program to clean out the WinAntiVirus spyware/virus combo. The popups are designed to look like a part of Internet Explorer and Windows itself - as if endorsed by Microsoft. It is not.

Just wait till i ask my problem... another topic

BTW, you should get some spyware protection programs for the future, and possibly to remove any garbage winfixer left behind.

Two or more is useful

I have to recommend Spy bot search and destroy (which come swith tea timer resident) and adaware (adaware misses some common malware but catches the more exotic ones)

And to finish u off, spywareblaster is really good. but that program just prevents spyware from installing.

All these programs are free.

Oh yes, "codestuff starter" is a program that combines taskmanager and msconfig into one handy tool. great for getting rid of useless programs at startup. and the auto search google feature is handy. again its free.

AS FOR the suggestion of chanigng browsers, there is nothing horribly wrong with IE other than its too open. My solution was Avant, its what is called an IE shell. it gives IE some really nice features, pop up blockers, ad blockers, malware protection, and so on. the only risk is once u get it, becareful ever running IE again, cause if Avant does pick up malware, it will hit IE, not avant. (so loading IE will trigger any malware that was just waiting for u).

may i suggest hitmanpro here for removing spyware and for stopping it for ever getting on your comp in the first place.
It's a little program that combines all the proggie's slayer said (adaware, spybot, spywareblaster) and even more (spysweeper, syscleaner, spywaredoctor,...) and even it has anti virus which you can install. You don't have to.
The sad thing is that the website is entirely in dutch, but the program itself uses english programs so it's not difficult to figure it out. Just check it out here : http://www.hitmanpro.nl/

You can find the download button i hope [;)]

> may i suggest hitmanpro

You may. But at the risk of offending you: I strongly advise against it's use. It bundles together at least a dozen different freeware and commercial programs, many of which a person may not want or need, some of which are simply trial versions. This program is a disaster waiting to happen and an attempt to cash in on the works of others.

Sorry mumhra. This "press one button to do everything" solution is almost guaranteed to cause problems.

Maybe you are right Wint. But i am using this program for over 2 years now and i'm very happy about it.
But like all programs it has its pro's and its cons. I'm not a computer expert or anything, i can just tell you my findings.

About the programs in it you don't want or need. At startup you can tick all the boxes of programs you want to use. Leavind a box unticked and that part won't do its work. But like i said, everybody is free to use it or not. I just showed you what i use [;)]

I'm most impressed by the feature that will delete "misplaced" exe's
The heuristic scanning mode immediatly deletes everythin which isn't in the 'right' location. So exe files on your desktop, programs outside the program files folder etc. are deleted immediatly, no remorse. Why? Well, they're not supposed to be there according to Hitman Pro,...
Is there a "non-pro" version of the same thing? lol :D

Thank you mumhra. You'll have to understand I'm a bit of a loony when it comes to controlling software behavior (as rocketalces knows well, hehe). [;)]
